A very good thread. I am learning to hate the ABC. A one eyed publicly funded activist organisation that is untrustworthy.

1. A 🧵 on forest. It would seem that we can't manage to see the forest for the trees. The @abcnews story yesterday on deforestation was inflammatory & vilifying of 🇦🇺 farmers. There was an implication that @CattleAus were trying to create their own definition of forest.

"The assessment for terrestrial vertebrates assumes 100% of food obtained from the treatment area on day of application" - the key line from the @apvma docs - not realistic 4 a # of reasons - @GrainProducers is on this, any farm bird info & harvest loss info helpful! #savenotill

@HoolyMcg @cropmad @agrobaz @pete_arkle @GarethScholz @farmersgrowit @ColinJBettles @GrainProducers @APVMA This entire review rest on the false premise that biodiversity in cropping paddocks is viable or contributes in any meaningful way national ecological outcomes. It does not... It's not about drift, off target, residual secondary biproduct... no.

5.22 The Committee considered that the risk to birds was an outstanding risk...The Committee considered that, based on the balance of risks to birds to benefits, the maximum annual and single application rate of 600 g ai/ha (1.66L/Ha of 360) would be appropriate.

The Committee acknowledged the perspectives provided by submitters which suggested that the risks to birds seemed unlikely to exist, however they noted that the modelling undertaken by the EPA still indicated a risk.

New Zealand Re-evalution 2019 Outcome at https://t.co/WkXxHN7tNv - 5.20 The Committee considered the issue of ecotoxicological risks to birds. The Committee noted that there was a potential disconnect between the theoretical risk and the actual risks for birds.

I’ve flown a bit on @RexAirlines over the last decade, and sure, a bumpy ride at times! The return leg on the main line north, didn’t feel quite the same today! Reckon we can do better in terms of keeping our skies competitive @acccgovau @CatherineKingMP @AlboMP

@pete_arkle @agrobaz @Oscarthefarmer @cropmad @HoolyMcg @farmersgrowit @ColinJBettles @GrainProducers @APVMA Great to hear that @GrainProducers is on the front foot on this. If you could find some evidence that refute their changes so we have a solid base for our submissions to counter these changes that would be fantastic.

@GarethScholz @agrobaz @Oscarthefarmer @cropmad @HoolyMcg @farmersgrowit @ColinJBettles Hi @GrainProducers is on this, there’s been a lot of feedback, shock & concern from around Oz! We’re digging into the @APVMA Tech Reports, but it seems to be environmental issues (birds etc), more than WHS concerns - there’s a lot at stake here, so we will unpack it all!

@agrobaz @Oscarthefarmer @cropmad @HoolyMcg @farmersgrowit @ColinJBettles @pete_arkle I hope the reasoning is somewhere in that 170 page document. Otherwise we should be provided with the evidence to justify these changes. .. can someone please read the full document and let us know😮‍💨

Published in ‘99 - 25yrs next year - still a visionary piece of work, particularly as parts of Australia in #2023 look more like Africa did in 99! Systems thinking is central to balancing the sustainable growth of all types of capital - on farm, for #ausag, Oz & for the world!

Some good ag bean counters who’ve looked under the hood of a lot of #Ausag businesses unpacking opps for #naturalcapital - having this value on balance sheets is a key step towards a fair discussion on who benefits and who pays? ⁦@NationalFarmers⁩ ⁦@NSWFarmers
