glad to write an article for the @globeandmail about hospital crowding/wait times and how the public can show up for ERs instead of in them. one day, we won't need the rooms, and the medicine will come to us. until then, here are some things you can do: https://t.co/fbmRNVKMrd

Thanks @SarahGiles10 for this honest and well-written (as usual) explanation of the reality — the "moral injury" — we face in emergency medicine. "I am sorry that the health-care system is unable to meet all of your needs" https://t.co/xm0mBuIAtM

@ColinDMello The person being irresponsible here is @fordnation. Numerous studies have shown that it is not low acuity patients who lead to ED crowding, it's admitted patients not being able to move upstairs. And low acuity isn't 50% of our volume, it's 15%.

Urgent patient needs and a lack of family doctors are not to blame for ER wait times – the problem is internal management

ED wait times are a barrier to providing quality emerg care to CNDs. People falsely believe wait times reflect inappropriate ED visits however access block is a greater contributor. If Canadians want the ED to be ready for them this needs the attn of the entire health system.

Sunday on Checkup, we're revisiting an ongoing, important issue: how are Emergency Department wait times affecting you? Whether you're a patient, family member or work at a hospital, consider callinf or replying. In the last 45, we'll switch to bike lanes. Lots to talk about.

Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians @CAEP_Docs express deep concern over summer ER closures. They pose dire risks to patients and strain the remaining system. Gov'ts did not act on last year's warning. "Emergencies don't take a vacation".
