Acute exercise 3/3 The solution: First obtain cell, make it rest and happy, and then exercise it. This works! The cell fatigue reduces contractility due to acidosis (low pH) and metabolic impairments (too low ATP from mitochondria), while Ca2+ lessened the dys-contraction. Simple

Acute exercise 2/3 The problem: when we endurance exercise, cardiac output (HR+SV) goes up, but heart fatigues (well established in humans and models). But, the heart cell has been impossible to study during and immediately after exercise, because study kills the exercise effect.

Exercise and Ca2+ in the Heart https://t.co/nlffmjwLmp Ca2+, my favorite 4letter word (well, 2letter, 1number, 1math). Why,what, how? Everywhere, always there, always important, makes a beat; mostly good, sometimes not, sometimes who knows. Exercise yes! New publication @UofGSCMH
