Congratulations @PalamouD on getting the @ANRFIndia NPDF fellowship. She will work on developing novel optical tools to study organelle dynamics in neurons during behaviorally relevant plasticity mechanisms. Looking forward to working with you! #neuroscience

It’s always a great read when scientists introduce a new concept. Here the authors claim that dendrites are not continuous tubes but have dendritic shaft constrictions, suggesting that there could be compartmentalization within dendrites https://t.co/IyaekBdIZ9

Happy day for Neuronal Systems Lab, CNCS. Dr. Sivaraju joins Dr. Subhasis Ray Lab at CHINTA as post doc. Sam joins Dr.Sufyan Ashhad Lab at NCBS for Phd. Both did fantastic work and made our lab make strides when they were here.

1/6 Why does the brain maintain such precise excitatory-inhibitory balance? Our new preprint explores a provocative idea: Small, targeted deviations from this balance may serve a purpose: to encode local error signals for learning. https://t.co/q7aXO03tdb led by @j_rossbroich

List of favorite top ten "classic" science books. All communicate profound, mind-expanding ideas, often in profound prose. Many are multidisciplinary; some touch deeply on history, philosophy and society. All give repeated reading pleasure, revealing something new each time.

This is a black-and-white photo; only the lines have color. 😲 Great illustration of a general truth: Your perceptual system fills in the gaps in the incomplete data from your senses. [Link below.]

A new Science study finds that different dendritic segments of a single neuron follow distinct rules. The results challenge the idea that neurons follow a single learning strategy and offer a new perspective on how the brain learns and adapts behavior 📄:

This is the best in vivo AP propagation movie we got so far. Recorded at 1k Hz from the axonal branches of a fly CNS neuron, using voltage indicator pAce.
