I thought all these schools' needed money. Why would you walk away from extra practice chances and a sack of bowl game cash (plus pay a $500k fine ISU, KSU) just because you got snubbed or your coach left?
A 10-2 Notre Dame chooses not to play in a bowl game. Three bowl opt-outs this year: Notre Dame, Kansas State and Iowa State.

Every team in college basketball has a team sheet like this with several metrics and sorting each game into quads. Everyone knows the criteria. The CFP committee uses proprietary formulas. Need NET and other agreed upon selection metrics in CFP and have them laid out like this.
College football and basketball are my favorites sports. College basketball remains my favorite because the postseason & selection format is a million times better. There can be quibbles with bubble teams, but there are several metrics and criteria — and none of them are secret.
