It would have been a lot harder to Scheyer to maintain momentum if he hadn’t been named coach in waiting the prior year. It allowed him to keep the talent flow flowing. A model for what should be done at other places.
But but but the retirement tour was all about K and not continuing the tradition of excellence. I am beginning to think others should have done it the #thedukeway.

Again ….respectfully …. Lighten up Francis! Fans love rankings if only so they can say how much they hate them. They are fun conversation pieces. Nothing more nothing less. This is sports not war and peace.
@SethDavisHoops The only people who love them are hype machines. So Team X who beat FSU early last year will always have a “top 10 win” on their resume. Does that make any sense? You may say it doesn’t matter, but schools will use that as historical context forever and it’s flat out BS.

Anyone in the media business who measures these things will tell you that top 25 rankings always generate high interest and engagement. Why do you think we all do them so often?.
Respectfully . one of the worst takes in sports is "we should wait a couple of weeks to do the rankings." Who cares if they're off in week one? People LOVE rankings! The beauty of rankings is they create debate and are always changing. Let's stop taking things so seriously!.

People tweeting this back at me assumed it was only about winning. There are lots of ways to handle expectations, and Arch is going through the process at this moment. Wasn't at his best today but showed glimpses of potential. Ohio State's D was incendiary. The work never ends if.
I have met Arch Manning a few times during my visits to Austin, and though the interactions were brief, he came off every bit as humble and impressive as you would imagine. If anyone is prepared for this level of hype, it's him. Should be a fun one at The Shoe.
