And that's it in a nutshell really. For the last decade and a bit, regulation has prioritised the needs of private finance over the needs of residents. Ministers holding their hands up in horror at the repairs crisis were in the governments which made these decisions

📌Our 2019 report 'Exempt from Responsibility?' with @SpringHousing written by @msfiveounces identified probation officers and prisons have seen Birmingham as the easy way to get difficult cases housed. 3 years on and it's still happening❗️ https://t.co/7OZshefXlV

New survey alert! We want to find out the impact the current UK cost of living crisis is having on women and children who are experiencing – or have experienced – domestic abuse within the last year. The deadline for responses is Sunday 10th July 2022.⬇️ https://t.co/xSBlnuMwnl

Figures published today by @MoJGovUK show that 54,027 self-harm incidents were recorded in prisons in 2021 - that's about one every 10 minutes. The self-harm rate has decreased slightly in prisons holding men, but it has risen in prisons holding women. https://t.co/cqOBtPQ8Xg

Food bank users are turning down potatoes as they can’t afford the energy to boil them, reports say today. Sunak - a man whose wife is richer than the Queen - has used the #SpringStatement to largely help top and middle earners. Shameful and all too predictable.

Good to see the government responding to the @CommonsLUHC inquiry into exempt accommodation. We're pleased @EddieHughes4WN has referenced our research with @SpringHousing & @msfiveounces. We're greatly looking forward to seeing the results of the inquiry and seeing reform⬇️

Homelessness has risen 165% in the past decade, with Tory cuts & a broken housing system to blame. That's why places like @SpringHousing's hostel in Earlsdon – which I visited today – are so important, providing warmth, safety & support for people who have nowhere else to go.

Fully agree with this. I’ve put on events where I simply don’t have the budget to pay people with LE so don’t invite them & expect them to work all day for free. I see so much LE used by orgs that is exploitative & retraumatising. We can & must do better.
Still orgs exploiting lived experience but it’s good see more are saying no pay me what I’m worth and we can talk……..often the person with LE is often the only unpaid person in the room unless you count luke warm tea, soggy sandwiches & a £10 love to shop voucher payment 🤷🏼♀️

When Sam Pybus killed Sophie, he strangled her so hard “his hands hurt”. He got 4 years - which the Court of Appeal today declined to increase despite the @attorneygeneral ‘s best efforts Current laws are not strong enough. This needs to change

Sam Pybus was jailed for four years and eight months after admitting the manslaughter of Sophie Moss.
