Yesterday one of my students made a grid with an emoji to represent how they felt about each question in the do now. I absolutely loved it. Is this the new way to rate their confidence on questions? 😆😲🤭🤗

Did you know...on the sample space race you can change the track length and perform multiple rolls at once. Horse 7 ALWAYS wins...if you make the track long enough. https://t.co/f2GtDwKaJF

If anyone has a linear A Level Scheme of Work that they'd be happy to share with me my DMs are open. I'm especially interested if you've put Radians in Y12! @Sheena2907 @karenshancock @mrshawthorne7 @JaggersMaths @sxpmaths @missradders @mrsdenyer @jemmaths @mathsjem

What questions could you ask about islands? Here's one to get things started: What is the smallest possible island that has more land than beach?

Last week @standupmaths had me join one of his "Evening of Unnecessary Detail" events in New York. I invited @acapellascience to come down and we had a bit too much fun writing a parody of "Ain't No Sunshine" about the twin prime conjecture. https://t.co/0UY3yhFWYS

And so, as with many others, if you fancy coming and working in my department, due to a retirement and growing intake we need a maths teacher for September, so do send me a message if you are based in stoke/staffordshire/Cheshire and fancy a change.(8/8)

7. We need great teachers in the classroom, and although I can’t affect much of the reason we are struggling to recruit and retain, I can be part of the narrative that this profession is great and deserves our time. (7/n)

6. Working from home… it’s not for everyone. This one will be personal to me although jobs like this do seem to be coming up which would appeal to teachers. I do not like staring at a computer for my entire job, I enjoy real conversation, it’s why I teach. (6/n)

5. Community. As a community of maths teachers I feel we have something unique and I love being part of the big conversation. “How do you teach this?” “What resource do you use?” “What’s your favourite topic?” “You’ll never guess what happened in y11 last week...” (5/n)

4. The holidays aren’t bad either! They are needed in a profession which is so intense and for the children too I feel but it’s amazing for me to get to spend all of the school holidays with my own children too, especially while they are young. (4/n)

3. I get to share what I’m passionate about day in, day out. And they pay me for it! Amazing! (3/n)

2. Children are brilliant. There is nothing quite like dealing with teenagers on a daily basis. And although it can be tough, it is so rewarding. There’s no doubting that teachers can make a huge difference to children, it’s a privilege to be part of their childhood. (2/n)

1. Teaching is a wonderful profession. I was lucky to find a some great schools in my career that confirmed this but there are others. And this isn’t a clear cut thing. The perfect school for a colleague may not be the one in which you thrive. #findyourTribe
