Headteacher at Secondary 11-16. Expat 🇦🇺 in London. Views are my own

Great to read, how they actually make this happen I’m keen to hear more on. One of the key steps is giving LA admission control, so the greed of one school doesn’t impact other schools and inevitably children
.@bphillipsonMP has told academy trusts the current system 'incentivises' schools to 'avoid more challenging communities' 'But that chase for a narrow shadow of excellence, the kind that only succeeds by pushing problems onto others, that ends now' https://t.co/G6O1P6BUwD

After engaging in numerous coaching conversations with headteachers in recent weeks, I have reached a firm conclusion: If you do not currently work in a school, you truly have no idea about the extent of the challenges we are facing.

I wonder if the MOD or even the parliamentary salaries of MPs have to budget their staffing based on guess work and assumptions for the pay year that starts 6 weeks ahead? Why is education treated with such disrespect and contempt. THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS BROKEN!

This will take ten years to correct and recover from.
Teacher retention figures - this is sobering. "Imagine a class of 100 graduating teachers, fresh-faced & eager... 11 of those will have left the state-funded sector after just one year of teaching. After 3 years, 26 will have left. After 5 years, that number becomes 33..." 1/2

Apparently there’s a teacher (think she’s a teacher; I’ve never actually heard of her) insisting that using TLAC techniques precludes doing all the things teachers who use them routinely do: listen to children, honor them, appreciate them etc. The fact that so many teachers quite

Schools have admirably dealt with refugee children for years: Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Hong Kong. An influx of kids from private schools is not quite the challenge the Education Secretary seems to think it is!

Ofsted will accept all deferral requests this week and next. If you get the call next week, send the message to them that you aren’t happy with inspections as they are. Via @SchoolsWeek

I’m not over vocal on here. However following the findings last week, if school, LA and MAT leaders are not actively against the current pressure on HTs and with a focus on the absurd nature of inspection - you need to leave the industry altogether! @ASCL_UK keep fighting PLEASE
Could anyone with an issue about me speaking up about Ofsted, what it does to us & need for pause/reform pls do me a favour & unfollow or block me. I’m not on my own & won’t be stopping any time soon, a week of deferrals isn’t fooling anyone, but we’ll enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Things you can do in 90 minutes: Play a football match Teach a double lesson Watch a film Play a board game Cook a nice meal And, if you’re Ofsted, address the problems raised in an independent coroner’s inquest into your role in the death of a headteacher. Shocking.
