One thing I'm g8ful 4 from my Journalism degree is that learning that avoiding slurs isn't about being PC: it's about not being an asshole.

At the end of the day, most discussions on games end up being being depressing because even many ardent supporters of "Games are Art!" sneer at you if you treat them as such. Thinking deeper than a surface level about games is ridiculed by the average gamer.
@TheRedGoner Video games are the only medium where wanting to engage with them on a deeper level than average will be met overwhelming with ridicule from other supposed fans of the same medium

If you can’t defend your wife from your parents or siblings, you never deserved to be a husband in the first place. That’s not “RESPECT TO FAMILY” that’s cowardice. The moment you let them disrespect her, you chose comfort over character. You chose silence over protection. A real

ICE agents aren't Disney villains. They're our neighbors, friends, and loved ones. These immigration and customs enforcement officers are red-blooded American patriots doing a tough job to keep our nation safe. Assaults against ICE are up 1,300%. I stand with @DHSgov.

would it be too extreme say nerdy spaces / fandom can be very anti intellectualism? like i genuinely don't know what else call this "too woke" "fiction has zero correlation on its real world context" "let people have fun and ignore the serious themes on a story" approach.

It's really tiring to see people call old game difficulty "hardware limitations". It's all "limitations breed creativity" until that creativity filters you. Then it's "clunky".

A documentary will be made about Conformity Gate. And it's really not about Stranger Things. It's about fans demanding they get from their entertainment exactly what they desire. It's about conspiracy theories & how they spread online. A microcosm of so much going on right now.

stranger things fans gaslighting themselves into believing in a secret 9th episode is kind-of an amazing demonstration of how something like QAnon occurs on an inoffensive micro-level. once you're infected with the conspiracy brain, you see it everywhere

Reading "we wanted to make a casual experience any player can enjoy" in the development history of Monster Hunter 1 is such a great reminder that the conception of this series as being originally "hardcore challenging" is very silly.

The zombie apocalypse is so beloved in the U.S. because it represents a "rewinding" of the land and permits the population to imagine themselves as the primeval settlers exterminating the hordes of "useless" creatures that have no Lockean claim to the earth

its kinda insane how the entire mcu cast jumped out to defend chris pratt over a dumb “worst chris” thing but stayed dead silent when brie larson was getting literal death threats for existing

People say, “I don’t need to read fiction.” You absolutely do. The world is currently being run by rich, antisocial, amoral men who have never opened a book, and you need only look around to see the damage it’s caused. Empathy & curiosity are vanishing because people don’t read.
