This is the exact kind of person who deserves political asylum. It’s so telling that Trump has repeatedly reversed the asylum claims of individuals requested by Xi and Putin. Trump is not a strongman, he is a weak lapdog, willing to do anything to please authoritarians.
Sadly, we’ve learned that Guanguan, who risked his life in 2021 to secretly film the Uyghur concentration camps in China, is now in ICE detention in the U.S., facing the risk of deportation back to China. He should be protected, not punished.
