Vaccine skepticism makes no sense to me because vaccines are such a simple concept. You expose people to a small, harmless piece of a pathogen so they build an immune response to the real thing. Also, why would any of that lead to autism?

One can argue that the model is just a reformulation of the information already contained within the data, but the model makes that information more directly available to us and thus advances human knowledge.

PARENTS: All public school teachers are required to have a "bond" (insurance) to teach. Here's how a parent and attorney can have the bond revoked, resulting in the termination of that teacher. This falls under "Child Endangerment." Read the thread below and repost: Teachers are

The core question is whether a mathematical model can ever represent an advancement in human knowledge, and I think the answer must clearly be yes.
as a reminder: AI cannot generate knowledge. It cannot create knowledge. It cannot find new information. It can only mix information that has already been found and written and input into computers by humans.

A lot of the comments *are* anti-Harvard but that is normal and acceptable, lol.

I also want to commend all the commenters on the lack of racism. I read through several hundred comments, and did not see a single racist one, which is very different from how it usually is when people are mad on me on here. I appreciate it.

To be clear, I think your healthcare decisions should be between you and your healthcare provider. So donât accuse me of trying to force anybody to do anything.

Suddenly realizing the decline in great public advocates for science might be a humanities education problem. You donât learn how to give passionate speeches that speak to deep truths and get people excited about discovery in science class.

My father-in-law is a mathematician. He is insanely gifted. I showed him this post and I asked him if he could solve it. I will never forget his answer... "We can't, we don't know how to do it."

âYour diploma is useless.â This signals to me someone who doesnât read for pleasure, doesnât value knowing for its own sake, and only cares about personal growth if it increases shareholder value. Our universes are too far apart on this to ever productively communicate.

I'm tired of takes about how AI will change science that come from people who either don't care about how science works, or are just extrapolating wildly based on vibes. Would love to hear how some of you are thinking about AI and science in the comments.

AI is clearly an innovation in data analysis work on the scale of computers or the internet, which to be clear is still far less than what big tech is claiming. How AI will reshape data analysis feels like the biggest question in data science and statistics right now.

Even when I think they have a good point, it's like we can never see eye to eye. I always want to solve the problem in a way that's too nice for them. Basically the cruelty is the point.

Things like wishing the grading was harsher, that student feelings werenât taken into account in policy decisions, that studentsâ free-speech rights were diminished, that there were fewer disability accommodations⌠and on and on like that.
