to be an activist who can actly connect with people, you need to understand why some people in precarity don't want to talk abt serious things. you need to understand the emotional forces that make someone feel safer talking abt sth you might feel is much less important 1/n

Compare this to a Norwegian prison cell, which has windows, a shower, toilet, desk, tv, and one bed.
Cities should be allowed to build housing for adults like this. We do it for hostels, and it can serve as "housing of last resort." Very cheap rent, by the bed. There'd have to be strictly enforced rules if paired with strangers, but it's not impossible.

The lesson of the Holocaust should not be "but the problem was that it was *us* that got slaughtered" - for goodness sake.

U.S. society doesn’t hate vigilante narratives. It reboots a new Batman franchise every yr. But billionaire vigilante Bruce Wayne keeps the working class in check. What has the ruling class spooked now is that a vigilante killed a ruling class CEO & the working class cheered.

PhD lady made exactly one mistake, and that was not naming her literature thesis on olfactory ethics “Scents and Sensibility”

colleagues today saying one of the employees at the Jobs Hub "smells" which "isn't good for its reputation", despite the entire point of the Jobs Hub being to help vulnerable people get a job and now this vulnerable person has got a job. the Olfactory Ethics PhD lady is right !!

people are always saying follow your passion and you'll never work a day in your life but as soon as your passion is olfactory ethics everybody has a meltdown

The dissertation on olfactory ethics received unwarranted critiques. These reactionaries, however, will never critique articles like these, which victimize Israeli academics and ignore the fact that Israel systematically destroyed all the universities in Gaza.

how can you try to discredit the olfactory ethics thesis when men search for fragrances for hours online to smell like a sigma male. smell is important whether y’all want to admit it or not. dior sauvage very quickly went from a high class scent to indicating a player

One example for those who want the production of knowledge to be more real world applicable: olfactory ethics means your loss of smell always meant covid is a neurologic disease too, but it's still not politically convenient to regard it as such.

I am glad for people to "spend their capital," I suppose. But what ideas & analysis are they purchasing for us? Is it more than just personal redemption for having previously supported the apartheid colony they now give limited criticism of? Is it to put a ceiling on criticism?
