When Davey Allison told his dad he wanted to race, Bobby put him to work in the race shop... sweeping floors. He graduated to parts washing, then disassembly, then assembly and fabrication.

Victory Lane got to be a joke. People drape a towel on the driver covering up his sponsors, put hats on his head, change them mid-interview, stack crap on the roof of the car, and even put up a "fence" so he couldn't swat competing brands off his roof. Sad fight for TV airtime.

Hearing the big barn on NC 150 in Mooresville that served as crew chief Harry Hogge's race shop in "Days of Thunder" has been torn down.
