Warner Bros wanted $75M - $80M for the film and rejected offers from Netflix, Amazon & Paramount, refusing to let them counter-offer.

Disney Hate has just become exhausting.
Yes, it's a megacorp with tons of awful practices. But the hate campaigns this year have had little to do with legitimate grievances and more just.... hating women in film
He won. His style of consumer funko pop culture is dominant. But he never let go of getting picked on in highschool in 1992 and he's so bitter that even with complete global saturation he and his action figures are still mocked by the cool kids in the smoke pit.
I truly believe one of the biggest failures of 21st century film criticism was critics putting all their fawning support behind Iron Man (released within the same week) while dismissing Speed Racer as “bad.” Queer audiences KNEW though!
For the people celebrating

bombing, I hope you know that this will hurt all future comic book movie projects.
Financiers are going to be way less likely to back comic book movies in general when one like this does so poorly.
Just finished The Reign of the MCU, the whole thing. It’s terrible. Let me share my own highlighted passages and notes.
First off, the authors are totally upfront that they think the MCU is great and innovative and cool from the introduction.
Apparently Zaslav got outvoted on Tuesday with regards to the Ezra situation. Majority of the WB Discovery board wanted to indefinitely shelve

, but Zaslav was against it.
So he called in another meeting today, and sounds like there's a shouting match happening rn at WB!
Emerald Fennell is kinda the millennial Paul Verhoeven and the more people tell me she’s bad the more convinced I am that she’s actually nailing exactly what she’s going for
Greta Gerwig: Made a critically acclaimed, culturally profound, feminist movie about Barbie and the patriarchy that made a billion dollars at the box office.
Oscar nomination goes to … Ken.

I feel sad. Some of the people who lead our business are not willing to join artists in making this work safe and sustainable and excellent. These problems are solvable if we all come together as thoughtful stewards of the business. The AMPTP are failing their shareholders and
Remember everyone: the true mark of gender equality isn’t economic equity, sexual politics, or reproductive justice, it’s getting more women to direct IP slop made by board room committees!

BREAKING: Creators behind fan films ‘SPIDER-MAN: LOTUS’ and ‘SUPERMAN: SOLAR’ have confirmed the movies take place in the same cinematic universe, the RCU.
So you wanna make a “Year End” movie list? Some tips:
1.) Haven’t seen EVERY movie released that year? It’s not a “best of” list, it’s your favorites
2.) Don’t post your own movies. It’s tacky
3.) “Worst of” lists aren’t helpful criticism. Don’t do them. Lift up movies instead
I’ve been working on show notes for our forthcoming Captain Marvel episode and I saw the movie less than 72 hours and I can barely recall anything except for a few still images from all the fight scenes
SpongeBob, Optimus Prime, Paw Patrol and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles audition to join John Krasinski’s new movie ‘IF’ in this new teaser.

Otaku culture (and any escapist retreat into fantasy) at its worst is isolating and lonely and closes oneself off from the world in a perpetually depressed and emotionally stunted state of being. I feel sorry for you that you’re incapable of seeing how obvious this is.
"Evangelion is a criticism of otaku culture", what a boring ass way to interpret art. You watched this gut wrenching, deeply personal work, and the best thing you came away with is some cynical meta commentary bullshit?
I feel sorry for you
All the original avengers cast skated on such insane shit. He was hyping up Dan Crenshaw on SNL as a “sensible trump alternative” and now half his tweets are arguing for concentration camps for trans people.
There are numerous reasons why many might dislike these movies, and I am not saying they are perfect, but looking at them, there seems to be an undeniable pattern.
These days we only get boring company men, like...

Chloé Zhao, Sam Raimi, Taika Waititi, Ryan Coogler, James Gunn, Yann Demange, Adil & Bilall, Benson & Moorhead.
Also, there is currently a Marvel screenplay written by Nic f—n Pizzolatto.
What are some examples of truly evil movies? Not necessarily in terms of depicting it, or thematizing it (or ideology/politics) but that truly feel like they’re channeling something awful into the world?(This was prompted by preparing a lecture on SPOORLOS).
Hey it seems you’re all forgetting something very important in your excitement over the seventh movie in a film franchise that shouldn’t have gone past one movie.
Neve Campbell is back!!!! AND (just as exciting!) Kevin Williamson is directing. The franchise writer has never directed a Scream film — and actually, his only FILM directing credit goes to the masterpiece "Teaching Mrs. Tingle." Going to need

Norm Twinklestein is easily one of the most unserious people I've ever had the misfortune of speaking with. I hope his reading comprehension improves in the future, it's sad that he brags about reading so much when he's apparently only capable of thinking in single quotes.
While Spider-Man 2 discussion is hot right now, just gotta say tons of people are letting their blatant misogyny hang out by being incredibly fucking weird about Mary Jane’s character arc and Kirsten Dunst. If I still had a personal account I would be reprimanding lots of you.
Today’s spicy take: The Marvels bombing as a new Hunger Games movie gets positive reviews and will probably be number one at the box office this week is funny, but it’s just another variation on IP franchise slop for nostalgic zoomers who haven’t bothered to watch Battle Royale.
Is this not like, the text book defense every lawyer who defends a famous person who can’t stop throwing hands at women gives every time? And people are still coming out to defend Majors on this????
Jonathan Majors' lawyers claimed that Majors' former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, made "false allegations" out of "revenge": "She made these false allegations to ruin Mr. Majors and take away everything he spent his life working for."
Joe Russo says AI will be used to “engineer storytelling” in movies.
“You could save the AI on your streaming platform. ‘I want a rom-com starring my avatar and Marilyn Monroe's avatar,’ and it renders a story with dialogue that mimics your voice.”

Unless someone actually fucking died on camera or for the making of a movie there is no ethical or plausible reason to do this except for corporate greed.
First look at ‘ONCE UPON A STUDIO’.
The short film follows Mickey gathering Disney characters from the past 100 years for a group photo, including 40+ of the original voice actors.
