I think the US should beat the Netherlands and then take their bike first infrastructure and environmentally friendly policies and free healthcare. And the tulips. Let’s really show them.
John de Lancie's work as Q will never win an Emmy, but his ability to make Q into, at times, sad, funny, overbearing, narcissistic, vulnerable and loving absolutely elevated every show he was on.
Equating drag queens existing to Christ's suffering? BUDDY. As a Catholic, here's what I find offensive:
1. The Church's cover-up of abuse.
2. The Church's treating women as second class-citizens.
3. The Church using women religious' labor, but not helping them financially.
@hhavrilesky
My niece has a life-threatening airborne peanut allergy, so like the writer, can’t even smell them. It’s incredible how assy people, grown people, can be about it, but nothing as bad as the writer’s in-laws!
Pay women.
Hire women.
Promote women.
I don't need a t-shirt. I don't need a tweet saying how great I am. (I know.) I need a job and money and room for advancement.
Dawn Staley, the coach of South Carolina, tweets several times a week about Brittney Griner, using her platform to make sure

stays on our minds.
Mulkey, who was Brittney's coach at Baylor, on the other hand:
Framing this as being an oaf or awkward is completely missing the point. It was completely unprofessional and broke the trust players should be able to have in the media who cover them. Take a step back and for fuck’s sake don’t turn this into a column.
Today in my uniquely oafish way, while welcoming
@CaitlinClark22
to Indy, I formed my hands into her signature 🫶. My comment afterward was clumsy and awkward. I sincerely apologize. Please know my heart (literally and figuratively) was well-intentioned. I will do better.
Obviously, Simone Biles is the story of gymnastics worlds. But do not forget about what Morgan Hurd did. Team gold, bronze in all-around, silver on floor. She is a delightful young lady, unabashedly herself. You want a role model for your kids?
@morgihurd
.
When pro ball players talk about each other, they don't talk about MVPs or defensive players of the year or All-whatever. They talk about rings. This take doesn't surprise me at all.
"Does Caitlin Clark need a championship to be considered one of the greats in women's college basketball history?" -

Hey, remember when the WNBA postponed a semifinal game and immediately put players in isolation because of inconclusive tests? That’s how a league should handle it.
I am a women's basketball writer. There are lots of things women's sports need support on, but in my 15 years of covering sports, I've yet to see an actual issue of trans people hurting women's sports. You're being sold a bill of good to attack LGBTQ people.
Wings announce that Diamond DeShields is hosting free eye exams and a basketball clinic at a elementary school in Arlington. Due to her own eye issues, and how much proper eyewear helped her, it's a cause quite close to Diamond's heart, and she's done this in PHX and CHG as well.
Seriously, announcers who do this should be pulled off their next assignments because they’re not doing their job. If you refuse to say a name you find difficult, find a different line of work.
These CFB announcers gotta stop saying “I’m not even going to try to say that name.” Read a media guide for phonetic pronunciations and get yourselves together please.
“It’s been the most surprising part of my Olympic experience. How kind people could be in the face of failure.”
Mikaela Shiffrin just now on NBC. Wow. What a thing to hear.
I didn't see all this last night but holy shit, this is SO GROSS. Not only are you going after a legend of women's basketball for stating a completely reasonable opinion, you're also showing you don't know anything about the women's game pre-Clark.
The Sky are a reference to Chicago's iconic skyline and architecture. The Dream is a reference to Martin Luther King. Calling those two things arbitrary is bizarre to me.
I have news! I am so so so excited to say I start Monday with the Olympic Channel, writing about U.S. athletes as part of the run-up to Paris 2024. If you know me at all, you know how I feel about covering the Olympics and Olympians, so this is basically a dream job.
The WNBA didn’t get behind Warnock simply because he was running against Loeffler. They talked to him, investigated his platform, and backed him because they thought he was the best person for the job.
Myself and multiple players around the league have gotten on zoom calls with Rev Warnock and have loved everything he stands for and the platform he’s running on. Rev Warnock’s history of fighting for the oppressed speaks for itself.
Black coaches can't get a second interview while Hugh Freeze, who DMed a sexual assault victim to harass her and had a gajillion scandals during his time at Ole Miss, gets as many second chances as he wants? GTFOH.
Ok so some of you made jokes about the NBA reconsidering the term “owner.” Look at this wording here. “Mr. Stevens” vs. “Kyle Lowry,” after it was Stevens who acted anything but gentlemanly? Language matters. It shapes our thinking.
So, in beach volleyball, the US challenged, won it, and then Canada challenged the challenge and won? I don’t understand it at all. Claes and Sponcil don’t, either.
Aliyah Boston has clearly been crying, is so upset, and she's talking about everything great that Raven Johnson did tonight. She is an incredible player, but I am more impressed by the human she is.
Just thinking about if Major League Baseball players, including the Cubs, openly campaigned for Pete Ricketts’ opponent in the next Nebraska gubernatorial race. Because that’s exactly what the WNBA players did.
Sport is about more than ego ❤️
With their 100m hurdler injured & unable to compete, Belgium desperately needed someone to run to keep them from getting relegated.

The Mercury's Skylar Diggins-Smith announces her pregnancy on Instagram. This will be her second child, as she gave birth to a son in 2017. Congratulations to her!
So many of WNBA and WCBB colleagues are creating incredible content around the Final Four and draft, but none of us are doing anything as good as the "Is she gay or does she just coach women's college basketball" TikToks.
There will be two openly gay athletes on the podium for the team's event: Adam Rippon getting bronze with the US and Eric Radford getting a gold with Canada.
With salaries and travel about the same from franchise to franchise, this is going to make a huge difference as W teams woo free agents. Remember what Candace Parker said about never having a locker? Being treated like a pro athletes matters.
The Brooklyn Nets plan to hire Ime Udoka as their new head coach, sources tell

RLRT: Aubrey Huff was an above average at best ball player, and he has bad opinions. The only thing keeping him relevant is our reaction to his bad opinions. Quit giving him what he wants.

A man in a bar, to my husband, talking over me:
Hey, how does she know so much about football?
I've been a professional sportswriter for 12 years.
Here’s what
@Candace_Parker
had to say about fans coming out to Wednesday’s game at Wintrust:
We hope everybody comes out on Wednesday. Bring a friend. Bring a cousin, bring whoever to come out and keep that energy up.
@Nicole_Cliffe
Had a sorority sister who was religious about hats and sunscreen in college. If we teased her, she'd say, "I'm going to look fantastic in 20 years. Watch." Just had our 20-year reunion, and damn she was right.
@MelissaDSegura
I voted for Johnson in part because he wants to attack crime at its root instead of just throwing cops at it. I think too many people are missing that. It’s not that I don’t worry about crime. It’s that I don’t like Vallas’ plans to address it.
I really don't understand the Clark tech for complaining to officials, when Mulkey has been doing what she's been doing this whole game. Clark has been complaining a lot. She always does. But there needs to be consistency.
Just once, I want an NBA player at a game to not use the word "support" when asked why they went to the game. "I came to see good basketball" would just make me so damn happy.
