The civil war at the Heritage Foundation is far more consequential than most people realize. The divide seems irreconcilable and it could splinter the American right irreversibly
One major donor, who contributes more than half a million dollars annually to the Heritage, told CNN they lost faith in Roberts’ leadership. “I’m waiting to see how things play out, but if Kevin remains as president we will not be giving to Heritage."

The anti-GOP shift could boost Democrats’ chances of winning two or three of the five Texas seats that Republicans redrew And there could be more opportunities because to create the new seats, Republicans had to cut into previously safe GOP districts

Lotta wealthy whites swung to Miyares. But the working-class minorities moved back to Democrats as the pendulum on economic dissatisfaction has swung the other way. More at

Live Election Night Results for the Virginia State Legislature.
This 2024->2025 swing map for Henrico County shows pretty clearly that ancestral Republicans were so disgusted with Jay Jones that many of them came home to vote GOP for probably the first time since 2016. Miyares did 10-20 points better than Trump in the west end of Henrico

Republicans in 2024: “I have never seen a more stunning and clear rejection of an entire political party.” Democrats in 2025: “I have never seen a more stunning and clear rejection of an entire political party.” 🙄
I have never seen a more stunning and clear rejection of an entire political party. The public is willing to tolerate some authoritarianism in exchange for material benefits but not as an end in and of itself. Trump outsourced his admin to the most psycho fascists (Stephen

@umichvoter It’s becoming clear that a lot of the big swings last year were entirely due to economic reasons rather than any sort of permanent realignments…

I wrote about this and @madrid_mike has flagged this: while yes, Latinos don’t like Trump‘s deportation policies, his approval among Latinos started to decline during Liberation Day tariffs. Latinos have faced the brunt as consumers and businesses owners on tariffs.
The notable Hispanic swing back to the Dems, I would think, is a direct result of the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation policy & ICE tactics. Was across the board — in VA, NJ and NYC.

Found a precinct in heavily Hispanic Paterson, NJ that swung 78 points right from 2020->2024 and 77 points left from 2024->2025. 2020 President: Biden 88.8% Trump 11.2% 2024 President: Trump 50.3% Harris 49.7% 2025 Governor: Sherrill 88.0% Ciattarelli 12.0% #NJGOV

The real ones know there was never anything real about a "Racial Realignment"
"The Great Hispanic Realignment Theory is no longer operable and the polling on Hispanic disapproval of Trump is as real as it gets. And it will get worse, because Trump is now pot-committed to his deportation reign of terror." https://t.co/QOhLmW4e3m

And they're living it up with dancing girls at Mar-a-Lago and drinking bubbly at the new Café de Rose Garden and hitting companies up for Trump's opulent ballroom and squeezing a 747 from Qatar and selling watches and crypto and sneakers and otherwise making a mint. It shouldn't
None of this is complicated. The GOP ran on affordability in 2024. They gave sanctimonious lectures on cable news on election night about how the "silent working class majority" had spoken. Then they governed as reckless authoritarians, punishing the working class.

Big question for California data nerds: How did Prop 50 do in the current 5 GOP congressional districts that were just redrawn? Possible these Republicans would lose without a redraw?
