@ailenemacp Never attended one like this, but I'd love to have a meeting where one (maybe two) people present the details of what they consider their project's biggest obstacle. Rest of the time is spent with remaining lab members speculating how to circumvent or solve it 1/2.

Yep. Not only would this cost ~300B dollars in 2024, it would require expropriation of many, many houses and buildings. Utterly insane to consider when you can buy back the 407 for way less, and immediately increase capacity across the GTHA.
#topoli #onpoli @fordnation's tunnel fantasy is impossible not just b/c of cost. Why? The 401 interchanges are located in the midst of mainly residential areas. The in/out ramps (2 in each direction, w/ gentle grades req'd) w/ consume a huge amount of land now used for homes.

It's mind boggling that after six years of government in ON by Doug Ford, and four years of "municipal government" by Fords in Toronto, we still feel compelled to treat these grade-school optics-only proposals as genuine policy proposals. It's bonkers.
(whispers) nobody "removes a traffic lane" to build a bike lane, bike lanes are also traffic lanes because cyclists are also road users, we're just much more efficient users of urban space.

The bottom line is that Ford is falling short of even his own expectations and projections.

I have this argument all the time with ppl. Positional ordering isn't solved in domains where no natural ordering exists just because you use a transformer.
An excellent reminder about the power of autoregressive transformers to model things other than language. But @karpathy glosses over an important subtlety in expanding LLMs to other problem domains like vision or chemistry. In order for the โautoregressiveโ part to work, you.

I remember speculating about this (paper -> podcast, though really just dictation) back in 2019, and it was dismissed as way too hard. What's "way too hard" today that we'll see in 2029 I wonder?.
Mind blowing: An AI-generated podcast about our generative AI model of blood glucose levels. The podcast is fluent, accurate, interesting, and explains well most major aspects of the research. Listen here: By Google's Notebook ML.

.@theJagmeetSingh effective solutions to problems like this is what people want to see from the NDP (or any party) that's serious about tackling housing affordability. Hope to hear one from your party in the coming months.
