By far, mine and my family’s favorite animated film of all time. We quote lines from it almost daily. So glad it went through a rewrite and allows the voice actors to bring their comedic timing and talent to the final product. Happy 25th! And beware the groove…

All AI should be made to say "Bidi bidi bidi" before giving any answer, to remind people it's a machine generated response.

The automat is back
McDonald’s just opened the world’s FIRST fully automated, zero-human restaurant in Texas and it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. No cashiers. No cooks. No “have a nice day.” Just robots cooking your Big Mac, taking your order, and pocketing every cent of extra profit while we

Good news for job seekers - the jobs market is looking better than a year ago
BREAKING: New data from the United States Department of Labor suggests you're statistically more likely to find a job launching your resume into Ansky, a super massive blackhole located in SDSS J133519.91+072807.4, than submitting a resume to HR portals on the internet

Announcing my roguelike web-based dungeon crawler, due out in 2047
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic may not release until at least 2030 "Last night's biggest surprise was Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, led by Casey Hudson, who directed KOTOR (and Anthem). Exciting news for lots of people... but Lucasfilm says the studio was founded

I look forward to the upcoming Netflix movie, “Shakespeare in Space” coming 2026
We have just used the @Nvidia H100 onboard Starcloud-1 to train the first LLM in space! We trained the nano-GPT model from Andrej @Karpathy on the complete works of Shakespeare and successfully ran inference on it. We have also run inference on a preloaded Gemma model, and we

Not sure who leaked my business plan and standard ops, but I WILL FIND OUT and someone WILL PAY
Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees. $30 per seat per month. $1.4 million annually. I called it "digital transformation." The board loved that phrase. They approved it in eleven minutes. No one asked what it would actually do. Including me. I

I completely agree with this statement that tech prefers to solve tech problems and misses so many opportunities to do better. If you don’t agree, ask yourself why everyone is trying to build solutions using AI for co-development rather than helping business users
Devs need to get outside of the tech bubble and go solve real problems for non-tech people. We are an overserved market. Go ask your brother-in-law how his software is at his non-tech job and watch the wheels start turning.

If only we have these steel spines from IT devs during The Great Microservices Craze of the last two decades
IT people: “you need to block these AI browsers. They are a massive security problem!” Management: “but… AI!” IT: “AI sucks” Management: “use AI or else!” Gartner: “block all AI browsers immediately!” Management: “IT you must block all AI immediately!”

Because that’s what I want - a line on Jan 1st, at the airport, with all those people saying “this is my year”. Of course, by mid-Feb it will be back to normal again. But they will be still paying for their long term parking spot
Gyms are coming to airports… I had the privilege of spending time with @SecKennedy and @SecDuffy as the DOT announced a new initiative to bring gyms into U.S. airports. This is a $1B grant program that airports across the country can apply for to build real spaces for people

Monolith: "all my bugs are in one place." Microservices: "My bugs are distributed for scalability."
Microservices is the software industry’s most successful confidence scam. It convinces small teams that they are “thinking big” while systematically destroying their ability to move at all. It flatters ambition by weaponizing insecurity: if you’re not running a constellation of

“All I do is edit” Also known as.. coding. Yes, the LLM generates boilerplate based on the context provided, but production-ready code still requires the skills of a developer. At least for the moment.
Dario stomping on the scale is slowing / dead talk “ there’s just an exponential “ “ for the first time I’ve had internal people say I don’t write any code any more, all I do is edit “ “ there’s no point in which the models start to do something different “

Many developers are using LLMs for co-development. But did you know that LLMs can also help design your APIs? The traditional API design process today is bottlenecked by limited time and budgets, forcing teams to choose between delivery speed and design quality. What if we
