The last 6+ months I’ve been replacing almost all the initial systems with new, improved systems. I know so much more about Godot and GDScript now than when I started.
In the next version of Into the Dawn. I completely rewrote the radar system. Works way more reliably and smoother.

I love that we have several choices of performant lists in React Native. This was always something that took a lot of fine tuning and even required dropping into native in some cases, and now that’s less necessary.

I’ve gotten better at recognizing when AI won’t be able to figure it out and spend a lot less time trying to prompt around it. A side benefit is that I can prompt better in the future when I understand the underlying system.
AI demonstrates the sunk-cost fallacy perfectly: Just one more "this doesn't work!" prompt, you think, and it'll fix it!! But often it won't, and now you've wasted 30 minutes begging that you could have spent learning how to actually fucking do it yourself.

Yeah it can’t do it. 4 GB of RAM is just not enough. I did get another windows laptop up and running it though. 5 now.

Currently looking through the house for old computers.
For the first time ever, four computers running my game in multiplayer mode in the same session, in 4 different AH-64 Apaches. The game seems to be running very well on all of them. Now where can I find 4 more computers to add gunners to each helicopter…

If you’re a React Native dev and have never written a custom native view, time to fix that. Go build a Fabric component.

Discord wrote earlier this year that their app is React Native but they wrote their emoji picker in native. This is completely fine, and how RN is supposed to work.
