Are #NK_cells friends or foes in cancer #immunotherapy? We found they impede the development of anti-tumor NK-regulated T cells (#NKRTs). A separate study by @lab_marine showed that NK cells contribute to ICB resistance in melanoma.

Unexpectedly, we find that natural killer (NK) cells, long seen as cancer-fighting allies, can stand in the way of immunotherapy in immune excluded cancer lesions. Thanks to fantastic collaborators O Bechter, Y Saeys, D Lambrechts, Z Li and P Matthys.

What a beautiful piece of work (and thanks so much for referring to our earlier work!). Congratulations to the whole team!.
We found that cellular adaptation occurs by a series of cell state transitions, each with distinct gene expression programs and leading to increased resistance. This follows on the pioneering work of @sydshaffer, @arjunrajlab, @AndriyMarusyk, @lab_marine and others.
