It is always important to use new tools to reevaluate old questions. Here, we utilize advances in genetic epidemiology to find that alcohol consumption of any amount is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
In @JAMANetworkOpen, our work led by @KiranBiddinger uses observational and genetic epidemiology in large biobanks to re-examine an age-old question:. What is the association of alcohol intake and cardiovascular disease?.

Here, we show the importance of both rare AND common genetic variation to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, especially for disease prediction and prevention.
3 weeks after FDA approval of mavacamtem for treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). our work in @JAMACardio led by @KiranBiddinger and @SeanJurgens examines relative and combined contributions of *rare* and *common* genetic variants to HCM risk .

In @JAHA_AHA, more of our work led by @KiranBiddinger (1st year @Princeton undergrad), now using Mendelian randomization to probe potential causal links between a modifiable risk factor (BMI) and heart failure/cardiomyopathy.
