How do we put #FMRevolution into action? The state of primary care is precarious. Tinkering will not save it from collapsing. We need revolutionary deeds. My @AnnFamMed article out today calls for 3 decisive actions 🧵

Yes, the next phase is all about attention to implementation-1. enforcement to reach 15% spend 2. assurance that increased PC spending truly flows to front line practices 3. our own accountability for increased investment improving care.
It could be VERY big but it will depend on how CA allows the money (the investment) to be counted. The insurers will surely try and shift money bogus monies to primary care to reach the 15% threshold but that will not help at all if allowed to get away with this. But a great.

This is big.
California sets a 15% spending target to expand its primary care workforce and get more people access to preventative services. @vanesanchez_g reports. ⤵️

Primary care is imperiled and needs rescue. With @DebCohenPhD @YaldaJabbarpour we explain in @Health_Affairs Forefront why for-profit conglomerates and PE are exploiters not saviors and call for an American Recovery Act to rebuild primary care.

Understandable coping strategy by PCPs in face of overwhelming workload in #PrimaryCare. But compounding access problem when fewer PCPs per capita + smaller panel sizes per PCP. US needs A LOT more PCPs and investment in PC teams to meet the nation’s needs.

Agree with @AOC with one friendly amendment: “…WILL be subject to”.
Rep. @AOC says @KamalaHarris is "more than up to the task.". Also warns re: Harris: "It's going to be very important that we brace ourselves for some of the unfair, misogynistic, and racial undertones, overtones, explicit attacks and implicit attacks that she may be subject to."
