This paper highlights a critical issue in mental health transformation efforts: "Financial integration at the Medicaid plan level may be insufficient to drive large delivery system changes in the short run.".
Led by John McConnell w/ @DebCohenPhD & a fantastic team, this mixed methods study assessed impacts of WA’s move from behavioral health carve-outs to carve-ins. Financial integration was not assoc w/ changes in use & quality, and was viewed largely as an administrative change👇.
