In a similar way, I see people expect things to crash and lose data and we should feel shame as a field for that. We have known for decades how to write software that won't crash and will rarely lose any valuable data.

There are a few problems where I think we have all the technical knowledge how to do orders of magnitude better but the economic incentives go in the opposite direction. This is definitely one, along with systems that are secure by default and things like easy version control.
UI is a completely unsolved problem. (Just helped somebody who's not a dyed-in-the-wool computer professional to resend some text and images he had sent as an email as a WhatsApp message.).

Attendez, c'est possible de remettre une dent arrachée dans son emplacement et que ça cicatrise ‽ Ou c'est juste un bon endroit où la conserver temporairement ?.
@FloDeygas t'as pas tenté de replanter la dent?.

I still believe that Event Sourcing should be default choice of any software project, and you should use a mutable store of state only after you found a really compelling reason to do so.
Events are the most accurate representation of state. Everything else is a lossy abstraction. LiveStore gets it right ⚡️

One key feature I see missing that doesn't need to be in the language but in the IDE (hopefully a standard compiler API like LSP) is syntax explanation. Also, remove ambiant authority (capability security) and implicit side-effects (so monads and/or algebraic effects).
Thought experiment: Most programming languages were designed in an era where mostly one programmer coded in isolation. If you were designing a language for modern collaborative programming/commenting/etc., what would you change? How would you *modify* existing languages?.

This is another example why we really need capability-security by default in our operating systems. It is not acceptable that running one program could compromise your whole finances. We have had existing, high-performance OSes that make this attack impossible for 20 years now.
One minute I was prepping for a Zoom call. Ten minutes later, large part of my life savings were gone. It started with a message on Telegram from Alex Lin — someone I knew. He wanted to catch up. I shared my Calendly link. He booked a slot for the next day. A few minutes
