In case you missed my news last week, here’s a little video telling you about the Children’s book I’m writing on F1 :
Release in February 2025 - Pre-orders now open for the UK here :
I honestly think we should have a “chart of rudeness” in F1!
Next time, take the grid passes from people who don’t care and give it to some deserving kids who will treasure the experience….
Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d say….
Went to get a picture with Steve Carell, got photobombed by the King of the Netherlands!

I was trying to understand “Where’s the logic in a Ferrari move?”
Perhaps there isn’t any… Lewis has more money than he could ever spend, hasn’t won a race in over 2 years & maybe his heart wanted a new challenge.
To win an 8th title in a Ferrari would be an incredible legacy!
Incredibly gracious words by
@LewisHamilton
with
@JensonButton
after the race. 👏🏽👏🏽
This must be so painful for him - great example of sportsmanlike behaviour.
The two biggest questions from today are :
1) Why has Lewis lost confidence in Mercedes after saying he wanted to spend the rest of his life in silver like Stirling Moss?
2) What was the exit clause that allowed him to go just 5 months after announcing the new deal?
Interesting fact I learnt from someone at the
@fia
last night :
They introduced a new race suit this year which is heavier but protects the driver from fire for 20 seconds, whereas the gloves still only do 10 seconds, like the previous suits. Another lucky break for
@RGrosjean
My personal view is that FIA needs to learn from Spa & change the rules on what constitutes “a race”.
I would say it needs at least 25% of laps run without the safety car to classify it as a race & award half points.
If drivers aren’t allowed to overtake, it can’t be a race 🤷🏽♂️
Also - if they had actually done any research, they would realise that F1 engines are the greenest on the planet and are setting the standard for the road car industry.
Plus, with the research funding for fossil free fuels, we’re actually leading the solution, not the problem!
Gary please don’t encourage this reckless behaviour. They’d have been sliced into 100 pieces and fans, marshals and drivers were wholly at risk of injury and death. We already had one lucky escape. I totally 100% support freedom of speech and opinion, but do it responsibly
For those asking if Max could have manipulated the wing, let’s all be clear that the wings are designed to sustain hundreds of kilos of load without breaking.
Andre the giant could sit on it! As fit and strong as Max is, I doubt he managed to bend the wing….
We are unquestionably living with the world’s biggest
@Carlossainz55
superfan!
Fascinating to see how kids brains make choices & decisions…Decided he loves Carlos totally on his own!
Kudos to Chief Designer
@AksharaChandhok
for super use of the Christmas cardboard leftovers!
So… Max & RBR say they were told to give the place up. They told Max to “strategically” do so.
Merc say they hadn’t yet told Lewis that Max was going to give the place up.
For transparency, would be good if the FIA and F1 release all the radio transmissions with time codes

As I’ve said on several occasions - I think it’s time for F1 to ditch the hybrids with the heavy batteries.
Light cars with V10s screaming on sustainable fuels would be brilliant…
Le Mans is pushing hybrids, FE is doing Electric, F1 can lead development in sustainable fuels.
Awesome…. This kills the theory that “older shaky onboard cameras make the cars look faster”.
Regulation weight for these cars was 505kg without driver so probably 575 versus 798kg now. Modern cars are much bigger in size.
Smaller, more agile cars just look faster.
Fact!
I’m confused….
@alo_oficial
drove around flat out for 2 hours risking his life and has been given a 30 second penalty because his wing mirror was lose?
I understand that’s obviously not ideal but does seem very harsh especially when we saw several front wing endplates loose 🤷🏽♂️
🚨 Big news from
@f1academy
🚨
Doriane Pin has been given a 20 second time penalty for taking the chequered flag twice and LOSES her Race 2 win to Abbi Pulling.
#F1Academy
My thoughts on yesterday’s finish…
Neither driver deserved to lose that title yesterday.
Both have been outstanding this year but ultimately we must all congratulate
@Max33Verstappen
on his first World Championship 👏🏽👏🏽
The classic “ease off the brake pedal and gently understeer wide” move. Every (good) racing driver on the planet would have done the same.
Maybe Max deserved a warning but nothing more in my view. Good, hard racing between two of the best drivers ever.

Like millions of fans, Murray Walker was a huge part of my childhood.
Despite growing up in India, I used to watch the races on VHS tapes months after the race & his iconic way of commentating got me excited about F1.
RIP Murray - you made the world a better place
#Legend
This is a very fair point. Penalties should be consistent across the field.
The fact this was completely ignored makes the penalty for
@Carlossainz55
seem even less fair…
Not that anyone cares but Logan Sargeant should absolutely get 3-place grid penalty for the next race
Regardless if its for P1 or for P20 you've got to have consistency
Goodbye Sir Frank… A truly inspirational human being whose passion for the sport was only surpassed by his tenacity.
My deepest condolences to the Williams family and everyone at the
@WilliamsRacing
team at this time.
#RIPSirFrank
I hope
@MercedesAMGF1
and
@LewisHamilton
give the carbon department who made that front wing a bonus after today!
That win wouldn’t have happened without them….
Honestly…. It drives me a mad!
I’ve said it before and will say it again - V8 / V10 on sustainable fuels, ditch the batteries and hybrid, make the cars smaller and should be able to make them a 120 kilos lighter!
The Italian national anthem is very jolly!!
The only driver to beat Red Bull since November 2022 doesn't have a job next year..... It's an odd world that we live in....
Bravo
@Carlossainz55
- amazing recovery!!
I do find it bizarre how even when you analyse a crash and conclude that BOTH drivers could have done more to avoid the collision, people accuse you of being biased!! 🤷🏽♂️
#JustMyOpinion
This is unreal!!!
Biggest driver move shock since….. Lewis left Mclaren for Mercedes!
Thought that Lewis would end his career at Merc but a chance to have a blast in the red car may have lured him in.
Fascinating stuff…
These last 4 laps from
@LewisHamilton
may be the best 4 laps I’ve ever seen him drive!!
To hold on with 11 laps older tyres than Max was sensational!
#BahrainGP
Big reminder to Mercedes of why they need to pay him as much as they do....
I remember watching the first ever live broadcast of F1 in India - the Spanish Grand Prix on “Prime Sports” in 1993.
Whilst I’m sure the core fanbase will subscribe to the F1TV app, it’s disappointing that F1 won’t be on any broadcast channel for the first time in 30 years 🇮🇳🏁
That lap from Max will go down as one of the all time great Quali laps like Lewis 🇸🇬 2018 & Senna 🇲🇨 1988…
Incredible positioning at the Esses, perfect judgement of track edge on entry to turn 1 & Spoon, devastating speed at Degner, beautiful controlled aggression at chicane!🤯
No offence to Seb but he’s chosen to retire.
If Lance can’t make it, I hope
@FelipeDrugovich
gets a chance. As
@Formula2
champion, he’s earned a shot and it would be good to see new young talents get a chance - like Seb did at the US GP all those years ago!

Imagine how competitive F1 would look at the moment if the time sheets ignored Max! 8 tenths to P2 while just 6 tenths covers 2nd to 9th 🤯
They guy is just operating on a whole other level at the moment - mighty impressive to see….

Hamilton has been handed a five-second penalty for causing a collision in that battle with Perez
The Mexican has been told by his team to pit and retire the car

Just out of curiosity, are the Oscars the only event where someone can wander onto stage, physically wallop someone else in front of millions of witnesses and then just wander back to their seat for the rest of the evening with the other guests? Extraordinary…
@wbuxtonofficial
@f1broadcasting
I think the point is - why aren’t they approachable?
All our passes have the caveat that we can be recorded when we enter the paddock by Netflix for example…
If you’e especially going to be allowed onto the grid, there should be a certain expectation to at least speak to media
Oh. My. God.
@RGrosjean
may be the luckiest man on the planet today. So so happy to see him get out of that car. He would not have escaped from that a few years ago. The
@fia
’s work in the past 5 decades has saved his life.

Watching this clip, got to say the stewards were right to penalise Max.
It’s quite clear he deviates (wrongly) from the racing line to the middle of the track & braked unexpectedly.
I know the penalty doesn’t change his P2 yesterday but it sets a precedent for future races
Lucky to get away with that with nothing more than a melted boot…. Something went bang and seized up the back wheels and sent me spinning.
Such a shame to end a race in my dream GT car like that but happy to get out ok!
Scary moment for

@goodwoodrevival
in the iconic GTO 🔥
Most importantly just really glad he's ok but I have to say that save, car control and presence of mind to quickly get it off circuit and onto the grass was IMPRESSIVE👏🏼🫡
We thought we were done…
The Lewis penalty decision has obviously grabbed the headlines….
Meanwhile the stewards here in London have not given Vandoorne anything for this little move 🤷🏽♂️🤯
Consistency?!
No further action! ‘The stewards reviewed the video evidence and concluded that no driver was wholly or predominantly to blame.’ 🫡 😵💫

Like me, I'm sure everyone is wondering just why it's taken 64 days to explain what happened in a 4 minute window of decision making in Abu Dhabi.... And still no clarity 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Murray Walker could make ANYTHING exciting with his eccentric commentary style. This is one of my favourites - snooker! "He's missed it, he's missed it, FANTASTIC!!"
Not saying this should be condoned but I’m sure Lewis isn’t the first person to do this… Didn’t Sargeant cross the track just at the previous event in Japan?
Bit odd to talk about precedent when other people have done it before 🤷🏽♂️
The FIA is reviewing Lewis Hamilton's track crossing incident in Qatar for which the Mercedes driver was reprimanded and handed a 50,000 euro fine.
Details below:

Back home from Bahrain! Due to complex travel restrictions, I’m not heading to Abu Dhabi so that’s the last race of
#F12020
for me.
Thank you to the amazing team at
@SkySportsF1
who have worked incredibly hard in tough circumstances this year! Hope you all enjoyed watching it!
I do wonder if this is a great chance for Mercedes to have a look at George in a straight battle against Valtteri with an eye on 2022.... Will be great to watch!
Merry Christmas everyone! It’s been a strange and tough one in many ways for so many people away from their wider family, but hope you all have a nice day!
#MerryChristmas
Oh man!! Really feel sorry for
@LandoNorris
… Drove superbly but not choosing to change tyres at the end was such a shame.
Easy to say in hindsight but I do wonder if Mclaren should have been stronger when telling (not asking) him to pit for Inters.
Sounds like a busy morning for the stewards…Never heard of anyone being punished for touching a rivals car so will be interesting to see if anything happens!
Selfishly, for all of us watching on, just stick them both on the back row of the grid & watch them come through !!😂😂
A very happy birthday to Arturo Merzario – a man with style, clearly.
The last man to score points on debut for Ferrari *before* Ollie Bearman spoke to Rob Widdows in 2021:
Here’s my view... Back in the day, the driver on the outside would have to back out and realise when he’s been beaten. Now, they can keep going, knowing that they can use the asphalt run off and then hope that the argument about “being squeezed off” wins in the stewards room....
The problem for these guys is that drivers like Lewis, Max & George have raised the bar of expectation for a rookie.
Lewis’ 2007 rookie year remains one of the most remarkable seasons the sport has ever seen.
Nyck de Vries' F1 career was cut short and Logan Sargeant may follow suit after struggling in his rookie campaign! 😬
But, as Tony Dodgins writes, should F1 rookies be given more time to evolve into the great drivers of tomorrow? 🤔
This is extraordinary from
@Max33Verstappen
👏🏽👇🏽
On several occasions in the past I’ve talked about the similarities between him & Michael Schumacher at his peak.
This metronomic consistency is another illustration of the way they use their intelligence & feel to manage a race
Absolutely staggering consistency and as good a clue as you’ll find to why
@Max33Verstappen
is so hard to beat. He’s not just as quick as anyone else out there, he’s that quick on every single lap. Apart from when he’s in the pits. Obvs.
Wow….
Bravo
@LiamLawson30
- the only one of the 4 Red Bull drivers to make it to Q3… as a rookie in his 3rd ever Qualifying at arguably the toughest track on the calendar!

Lewis’ tyre… Merc made the safe call to pit. Can see the carcass coming through.
Should they have been braver and stayed out to try and take 3rd and the extra 5 points?
Debate….
The financial penalty to Red Bull may appear light to many...
However losing 10% of windtunnel time will mean that if everyone finishes in the same order as they are in now, they will have 12% less than Ferrari 17% less than Mercedes for next year. That will have a big impact!
In amongst all the Lewis vs Max chat, we must not forget what an incredible job
@Charles_Leclerc
did this weekend! Beat Bottas in a straight fight and comprehensively outperformed the rest of the midfield.
My ⭐️ performer of the British GP!
Ahhhhhhhh, incredibly close. I gave absolutely everything to win this race but lost out in the last two laps. The biggest victory today though is to see Max safe after that big crash. Now on to Hungary, thank you for the support ❤️
For the past few years I’ve been saying that I wished 2026 would go to a V10, non hybrid car on sustainable fuels.
Smaller, lighter, noisier, more challenging cars.
Road car companies are investing in ICE programs again. FIA seems to have missed the boat with F1 IMO…
Worrying news on 2026 rules…As far as I can recall, this is the first time ever that the engine rules seem to dictate the chassis rules in F1.
Done to entice Audi & Honda, it’s too late to change the PU rules now so what do they do??
Moveable aero / DRS is bad for overtaking!
