Amid all the suggestions for reforms to make COPs more effective, one has flown under the radar: a shift from consensus decisions to majority voting. Joanna Depledge of @CEENRG writes for @ClimateHome on how this could be a game-changer https://t.co/KfGrSvgCwx

Tony Benn’s 5 critical questions: “What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? How do we get rid of you? And if you can’t get rid of the people who govern you, you don’t live in a democratic system.”

Objectively hilarious that the exact people saying Democrats need to run right on immigration lose their minds as soon as Bernie calls for higher wages for H-1B workers and a crackdown of corporate abuse of guest workers (a position he's held for decades btw).

Environmental diplomacy has reached a hard new crossroads: The science of ecological destruction is settled, the trajectory is bleak, and the need for change is obvious. All that’s left to do is decide who should deal with it. @ZoeSchlanger reports:

Every major international negotiation—over biodiversity, plastics, and climate—failed to meet its goals.

This is an incredible quote, but what I was more shocked by was learning that it would only cost $24 billion to be prepared for ANY VIRAL PANDEMIC. For a few pennies to the federal government, the U.S. could simply crush any new viral pandemic before it gets serious.
