🧮💡 Did you know DC ranked FIRST among states for math & reading growth in 2024? Our schools are proving that strategic investments in academics = real results for kids, and that EVERY student can be a "math person"! Josh Boots (@jbootsdatanerd) of @empowerk12 was recently

Learning styles, ‘I’m not a math person,’ and being bad at tests—they’re all part of the same mythological family. Comforting. Intuitive. And wrong.

Our students deserve the highest expectations and support they need to meet them. Flexibility in exchange for proficiency is the only option. As postsec expenses continue to out-pace inflation, we must recommit to and ensure the value of a HS diploma for our community

As DC rethinks its math graduation requirements, I’m watching closely as a member of @DCSBOE focused on literacy. Reading and math are co-requisite skills for navigating adulthood. Foundational literacy. Foundational numeracy. Both matter. 📘📐 More:

Part of the reason why DC is the best city in the world is because our city has the best teachers in the world. We are grateful to our city's educators who support, nurture, and show up for our students each and every day. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day, DC! 🍎✏️

It's wild when you think about it: D.C. had a balanced budget, the House went ahead and unbalanced it to the tune of $1.1 billion, the Senate fixed it, the House sat on the fix, and now D.C. may have to make cuts to programs and staff to address a problem not of its own making.

Math scores predict future earnings better than reading scores. According to the Nation's Report Card, roughly 850,000 fourth graders struggle with basic math. Strong teacher prep is key! See how programs measure up in our latest Teacher Prep Review. https://t.co/1rD0ZB1a0h
