Life is 110% about perspective. The last 3 months have been the hardest period of my life hands down. -Lost my business partner.-Wife had Covid.-new house.-first head coaching job.-serious car wreck. But then my world stopped, and my daughter made me a dad. This. Is. Awesome.

We welcomed to the world Kennedy James Batton yesterday at 4:32p. Momma was an absolute champ and was literally walking 2 hours later. Guess it’s pretty easy to see who the tougher of the 2 of us is. Brooklyn absolutely adores Baby Sister.

🔥Hot take🔥 . JV College baseball is unethical. Understand I:.1) Played at 3 colleges, 2 had JV programs. 2) Coached in a program that next year will have a JV Program .3) Fully understand how finances work and understand the facilities arms race that exists in college sports.

My select baseball coaching debut was made today. -I locked my keys in the car at the field with my bucket of balls, fungo, all the hats, all the jerseys and all of my lineup cards. -we tied both games. I’m ready for today to be over. Tying just feels so wrong.

Just signed the lease to our own, stand-alone facility after working from 3p-4a between 2 jobs. Business ownership isnt pretty or “fun” and it’s a lot of elbow grease. But today, is a really big win after a lot of really small wins and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.

4 years ago-I was newly married, working as a pitching coach at a local NAIA, with 3 clients and no clue how I was going to make the next months rent. 3 years ago-I had 10 clients and still hadn’t paid myself, I was working nights at UPS and was told s&c isn’t a full time career.

A year ago, I told people who didn’t know me that my intent was to quit my part time job, to work a full time job in s&c, . I accomplished that. 2020 was tough for a lot of people, but I accomplished my goal In the face of challenges. Bring. It. On.

You have players who may NEVER see the field that are recruited thinking they’ll have a fair shot when the reality is that they don’t. It’s just the reality. 9 positions, 40+ on a roster. NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA should all have roster limits.

My wife (a NICU nurse) has worked 22 shifts in the past month due to Covid. That’s an average of just under 5 shifts/60hrs a week. This woman is my freaking hero.

Apparently today is CoronaCleaning day in my house. My wife told me to clean out any shirts I dont wear and told me I dont need 5 muscle milk shirts so she took 4 and left one. I took off my hoodie and was wearing another one. After deliberation, I was allowed to keep 2. Thankful.

I try to keep a lot of what my wife does on the DL, but y’all shoot up a prayer for my greatest hero. They lost 3 patients in her unit on one night this week and it’s still hitting her hard. I don’t really know what to do/say in times like these so thanks for hearing me out.

Business ownership is incredibly hard, it definitely hasnt been sunshine and rainbows. There’s been stress, blood, sweat, tears and quite a few sleepless nights. I’ve had to grow up a lot, lost friends, learned about what is important to me and tried my best to stick to my values.

This year-tonight, I picked up active athlete #200, I oversee s&c for baseball programs at 3 high schools and a college, I have 2 awesome coaches I work with and we’ll have coached 125 semiprivate training sessions at this week alone.
