Style transfer onto actual game worlds could turn out to be something, as shown here. But there has to be ground-truth game world and rule set or it's not a game.

New experiment: @huggingface SDXL as a post-processing layer on @unity. This is real-time. Imo trying to prompt AI video models into creating consistent game worlds is a dead end. Why not build a defined world with rules and story, and style that? Prompt can change via gameplay

These non-technical VCs are being promised 100x improvements that aren't coming - particularly w/ this complete evolutionary dead end of video-only AI models as "game engines." Frame-to-frame interpolation w/ zero real app state is just expensive noise masquerading as gaming.

I wrote about designing for and implementing this feature in May, but some browser-level issues delayed release until now. Really appreciate @Apple's continued support and enthusiasm for the #WebXR platform! Eager to see where they go from here.

๐Ÿค Escape Artist now supports Apple Vision Pro's gaze-and-pinch `transient-pointer` input for teleport - it's so nice - and all stability issues have been resolved in visionOS 2.0 alongside the mainstream release of WebXR ๐Ÿ™Œ. The game is truly cross-platform and multi-modal now

I'll be at Meta Connect in SF from Tues, Sept 23 to Fri, Sept 27 - anyone else going?. Looking for updates re: Quest, Llama models, Ray-Bans, a roadmap following the Spark Studio shutdown, and a new AR glasses prototype ๐Ÿคž. And I'm ready to start talking about my next game(s)!.

I've finally given over to React after years of avoidance. It's just so portable - use it for web, native, XR, even Roblox - and react-three/fiber is nice for unifying UI & 3D app state. There are a few head-scratchers, like literally every other framework, but I'm liking it now.

Maybe avg. engagement & quality of 3rd-party filters really is so low they're fine shit-canning it all? . Wouldn't totally surprise me. Our stuff does well, but IG totally de-emphasizes/hides filters in UI. It's prob true the core IG audience won't care. Still seems short-sighted.

This has to be a pivot to an umbrella creation suite for Horizon Worlds - surely they can't intend to lock creators out of AR on IG in perpetuity - but they are not giving any hint of that currently. Meta Connect is September 25. If we're going to get any clarity, maybe there?.

Wow, Meta is shutting down Spark Studio. No replacement forthcoming - they're moving all AR filter production for IG to "first-party teams" (themselves). I'm shocked - our team uses Spark all the time for clients like Sesame Street, Enterprise & Bayer.

Yeah what entrepreneur would want (*checks notes*) instant global cross-platform distribution of immersive apps w/ no install, fees nor curation built w/ a widely-known language based on open standards?. We should instead rely. on Unity? On App Stores?. I'll take the web, thanks.

Being in this AWE VisionOS event is a bizzaro world. Please do not build a company off of WebXR. Itโ€™s a second class citizen at best on most headsets, complicated to develop, and technologically behind native and engines. Maybe someday but not now.
