Our new report is out today, examining the state of social cohesion as we approach the anniversary of the riots 👇
A “powder keg” of social tensions and grievances remain unaddressed across the UK, one year on from last summer's riots, according to a major new cohesion report published today. It warns that without urgent action, unrest risks being reignited. [🧵]

🧵 This week we asked people what they thought about Elon Musk's interventions into UK politics, Nigel Farage and grooming gangs. We found Musk's interventions had really cut through with the public - with 63% having at least heard a fair amount about what he's had to say.

Since Mark Zuckerberg announced today that is ending third party fact-checking on Facebook, I thought it would be relevant to reshare our study about the long-term, causal impact of exposure to hyperpartisan/low-quality content on social media:
In 2 digital field experiments, we found that unfollowing hyperpartisan influencers on Twitter: -Reduced partisan animosity by 24%—with effects persisting for 6 months! -Increased satisfaction with Twitter -Led people to share higher-quality news https://t.co/1boTh9JHNh

Over 1000000 Indian soldiers from British-controlled India fought for us in both WWI and WWII. Till now a forgotten army on #RemembranceDay, and by the #UKGovernment or @britishlegion. Latest @Channel4 personal story from @Mobeen_Azhar on their stunning contribution.
"Indian soldiers cannot be written out of our consciousness..." Ahead of new Channel 4 documentary #TheSoldiersThatSavedBritain at 7:10pm tonight, @Mobeen_Azhar asks why the British Indian Army still doesn't have its own memorial

The level of abuse Kemi and I receive for being black Conservatives never ceases to amaze me. Today, it’s comments about deporting us. Incredible that so many people find not being white so triggering.

Anyone else been given a “friendly nudge” not to “tweet about Gaza/Israel so much” because “it could be misconstrued [in the media industry]” I have. To the person concerned: unlike you, I’m not a bully, biased or a coward. I’m evidence driven. Try it again and I’ll out you.
