David Lammy claims he didn’t know about the prisoner release error until Wednesday morning, when he also claims he was out buying a suit (which fits suspiciously well for off-the-peg). Government officials have briefed that he was made aware on Tuesday afternoon. Who’s lying?

Between Labour taking power and the end of March 193 prisoners were released in error. That’s 5 a week. At that rate there have likely been 150 prisoners released in error since April. There have likely been more released in error this week than just the Wandsworth two.
