Great work by @Joshuawolf and colleagues using resistome analysis to show that prophylactic levofloxacin use in pediatric ALL did not select for cross resistance to other antibiotics. FQ exposure self selected for resistance in the prophylaxis group, not others!.
Excited to share this paper on effects of antibiotics on the gastrointestinal resistome in immunocompromised kids! Punchline: prophylactic antibiotics increase resistance to themselves, but *not* to other antibiotics. 🧵@StJudeResearch
