So much of behaviour comes down to the question: 'Who is in charge?' If you want children to feel safe, confident and happy, the answer is the adults. Modern progressive approaches are an abdication of the basic duty to lead with kindness and clarity.

I still don't think ppl have woken up to just how much better Michaela and Mercia are. When other schools declare a 0.2 lift a great success, M&M are getting 2 whole grades more from the same kids.

If your curriculum is dependent on which teacher happens to be at your school for that year, don't be surprised when other schools (which pour their collective expertise into codified booklets which improve every year) thrash you in August.

If you really care about kids with SEMH needs, think upstream and improve your whole school culture. Fiddling with interventions will have you chasing your tail with diminishing returns.
