Yes we need more trainee positions but can we stop blaming foreign trained doctors. This is dangerous and frankly should be beneath the BMA/the NHS since the NHS remains functional in part due to staff from all across the world! @parthaskar @TheBMA @DHSCgovuk

This expectation that because you are trained somewhere means you are entitled to a job is just wrong. It doesn’t mean you are better. Medical graidates get an initial foundation job and then like all other career paths need to stay competitive to progress…thats not abnormal

Your post basically shouts “poor us, foreign doctors keep steeling our jobs!” Having been on many panels for these interviews, IMGs often face greater barriers, are often at disadvantage from scoring systems and those that get given jobs are done so on merit.

This is such lazy reporting @itvnews . Stating an absolute no. of people applying for jobs & then the % of “foreign trained doctors” against that no. but not the no. that actually got jobs is divisive. Why highlight the % applying without reporting the no/% that got jobs.
