Good to see this investment from @wesstreeting @DHSCgovuk for a community at higher risk of lung conditions.
We welcome today's news that the Health Secretary @wesstreeting will invest £1m as part of the Men's Health Strategy to help identify and support ex-miners who are living with or at risk of developing lung conditions such as COPD.

Look at those flu stats compared to this time last year. 😐 With respiratory driving a lot of A&E attendance, can see why NHS England CEO says this will be one of the toughest winters and @wesstreeting told @guardian some trusts would “struggle” to maintain normal service.

Thanks to @Roche for supporting this important topic. We will have got the shift from hospital to community right if we can finally reduce health inequalities in lung disease - the most extreme of all health conditions - and do better than the worst in Europe for lung health.
Our thanks to the panel for 'From Hospital to Community'. L to R: Dr Simon Opher MBE MP, Chair of @HealthAPPG, Sharon Brennan of @NVTweeting, @_SarahSleet CEO @asthmalunguk, Prof Ben Burton Pres. @RCOphth, Kate Rowbotham, UK GM at @Roche, @hellomccracken of @TheKingsFund.

Super important, if @NHSEngland isn't interested as not "prioritising population health surveys in its long-term strategic work plan" (err, sickness to prevention anyone?) who? DHSC central budget? Alternatives will break the series, pretty dreadful
