Having data in hockey is one thing, understanding it is another.
New hockey analytics primer with the amazing

to help with that, featuring a refresher of key terms, insight into GAR, GSVA, goalie metrics, in-game analysis, and more.
the worst part of the actual result of tonight's draft lottery is that the Blackhawks probably shouldn't even have their first-rounder after the Kyle Beach situation.
I don’t know, if you strongly value every person/the LGBTQIA+ community and feel everyone belongs in hockey, why not do a small gesture like wearing a jersey that shows it..
James Reimer, Logan Couture and David Quinn all spoke with the media. Here is Reimer's official statement about declining to wear a Pride jersey tonight ...
Also whatever your opinion may be of Chiclets, the fact of the matter here is that they used their platform for something good, and were a space players could feel comfortable being open about what's going on.
personally LOVE the NHL schedule the rest of the week
3 games tomorrow
14 thurs (stacked @ 7, of course)
0 friday (!)
15 saturday
2 sunday
growing that viewership, baby!
Ejections to Rempe, Goodrow, Miller, Trouba + MacDermid, Tierney, Nahl, Marino.
NJD + NYR both down two forwards & two defensemen for the next 59+ minutes.
#FlaPanthers
Eric Staal post-game, when told there is photographic evidence of him wearing a pride jersey in Montreal:
“I haven’t before. I never have. … I haven’t worn a pride jersey before.”
(Staal wore No. 21 with the Canadiens during the 2020-21 season.)
Henrik Lundqvist also a great add on national broadcasts – we don't always see elite players go into analysis/commentary in hockey + be able to translate it into analysis. Really does a fantastic job breaking down plays, the goalie perspective. Always something to learn form him.
pride nights aren't being scrapped + teams can still design speciality jerseys to sell, but they won't be a part of warmups.
just feels like a cop out to avoid getting bad press for backwards individual decisions.
From NHL Board of Governors: teams will not wear specialty jerseys in warmups next season. Also: Cap, Ottawa, Arizona and other topics. With Commissioner Gary Bettman here —
Just to be clear: the worry I don’t think is that the game-worn jerseys will have a quality issue. It’s that the NHL overcommit to a deal that may bite them with a legitimately bad company that’s risen to the top in a crappy way and destroyed the sports market in the process.
Yikes. I feel awful for that Jr. Reporter who probably felt their confidence just completely drop.
It’s amazing how many refuse to be accepting of anyone new and anything fun. What a bad look.
We've all seen what
@ByMHarrington
has said and heard the stories, but this is something that deserves to be brought up.
Harrington's history of acting better than isn't new as you can see in this clip of clearly intimidating a Sabres Jr. Reporter. A KID.
Here are players wearing masks to play hockey at the highest level, even if it fucking sucks. I never want to hear complaints about wearing one for 10 minutes to go to a store.
It may seem super inconsequential to ban pride tape, but it's just more of the same from a league that can't get out of their own way.
All of this still applies with the NHL:
The NHL can't get out of their own way when it comes to growing the game – and the decisions to scrap specialty warmup jerseys to avoid 'distractions' that Pride-themed jerseys caused is another example of it.
Demand and you shall receive. PK gets his wish of joining the Rangers and reuniting with AP, but does he have it in him to play everyday? Is it finally showtime in New York, or is this star too faded? Only time will tell.
Xoxo, Gossip girl.
This is so incredibly dirty. Not only should it end Veleno’s Worlds tournament, but maybe be a multi-tournament ban for the intent.
Really lucky there’s no injury to Niederreiter.
The devil is in the details. It may have been Toronto or nothing as GM, but this is for president. And when’s the best time to announce Little K? Just 30 minutes before his replacement has his media day.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, but this tea is piping hot.
Xoxo.
Pierre-Édouard Bellemare, Matt Dumba, Nazem Kadri, and Jordan Greenway stand together during the anthem before today's exhibition game between the Wild and Avalanche.
People are so disgusting. It's absolutely awful that anyone would ever do this is any circumstance.
K'Andre Miller and the Rangers are trying to connect with fans and this is the shit that goes on.
Sounds like the Canucks and Penguins talks are heating up. Hearing key piece from Vancouver is a forward with term. Wouldn't be shocked to see one or both of Pettersson/Joseph going back
@hayyyshayyy
When you can't spell a player's name and act like you give a fuck about hockey. Also when a player jumps on another player's back while he's on his knees... You have it coming
Artemi Panarin
Kaapo Kakko
Jacob Trouba
Adam Fox
Vitaly Kratvsov
Igor Shestyorkin
Yegor Rykov
John Davidson
Henrik Lundqvist must be taking a huge sigh of relief.
Sarah Nurse is the only Black player in women's hockey at the 2022 Olympics. And she has the most points. Sit with that glory. Revel in her excellence.
And support
@BlackGirlHockey
because there are more Nurseys out there. ❤
League sources believe the Canucks have at least one sizable deal in the works by the deadline, with the wait due to cap management/space brokering. We’ll see if it’s Miller or someone else...
The draft lottery for the 2020 NHL draft will include the seven teams that didn't qualify for the 24-team playoff tournament + the eight teams eliminated in the qualifying round.
I like when players actually use their clauses and block trades. Sure it complicates things, but if a general manager hands out clauses they should know the risk...
My understanding at the moment is that Torrey Krug won’t waive his NTC for a trade to Philadelphia. I suppose he could always change his mind, but that’s where it is as of now.
