“A King County worker making the state’s minimum wage would need to work 103 hrs a week to afford a one-bedroom apartment and 120 hrs to afford a two-bedroom apartment...” Via @seattletimes

To afford the typical one- or two-bedroom apartment, Washington renters need to earn far more than the minimum wage or work far more than full-time.

The whole state of Washington at "significant" and "above normal" wildfire risk this July through September. This means that we could see multiple larger regional wildfires over the next four months given the lower than average rainfall so far. https://t.co/v1l1D22wIu

Seattle renters, we need your voices to win a $10/month cap on late rent fees! Testify at the City Council meeting tomorrow, Tues. 4/18 at 2pm. Don't let the committee water down the legislation! We need to show up in force to advocate for the full strong legislation! 📢💪(1/2)

Housing is a human right and shouldn’t be commodified. Late fees are nothing more than a penalty on people who are struggling to pay their rent. We are bringing this amendment back because it’s the right thing to do, and I hope to see it passed in Council next Tuesday, 4/18.
NEW: Prime sponsor CM Tammy Morales, along with co-sponsors Kshama Sawant and Teresa Mosqueda, will propose an amendment Tuesday to restore the Sawant's original $10 late fee cap.

Activists cited recent jail deaths and lack of mental health resources as reasons to shutter the facility.
