Dear young athletes- keep this photo saved to your phone and show the next person who says you have to focus on one sport in HS. The amount of kids I’ve heard say “I can’t risk getting hurt” or “my coach won’t let me” drives me crazy. You get one shot to be a HS athlete.

I’ve been an unapologetic spread guy for a long time. Watching teams in this years state playoffs I think that’s changing. 2 and 3 back teams under center continue to have tons of success year in and year out regardless of the level of competition. I think there’s something to be

Championship teams don’t chase the scoreboard. They chase the standard. Wins are what show up on game day. Standards are what show up every day in meetings, workouts, and practice. Hold the standard and the wins will take care of themselves.

‘Relief Syndrome’ kills greatness. Don’t relax after success. Refocus. Reset. Repeat. Champions don’t feel relief; they feel the challenge to do it again.

“The Youth Sports Industry Doesn’t Care About Your Kid” They’ll sell you “elite camps,” “combine prep,” and “exposure events” — for 10-year-olds. Because fear sells: fear of falling behind, fear of missing out. Real development is built through time, variety, and play.

Underperforming teams get bored with the basics. High performing teams are committed to being brilliant in the basics. Keep showing up.

Competing isn’t the same as playing. It’s showing up ready to win the drill. To push past comfortable. To fight for every rep. It’s bringing your best, especially when it would be easier not to. Competing is a choice. Make it every day.

If an athlete doesn't want to lift on game day let alone the week of a game or competition they either don't have a quality strength coach that programs appropriately OR the athlete isn't interested in being their best. Strength training isn't about making you sore it's about

Here’s a few cross-country boys and girls from this morning. By this point, they’ve already ran with cross country and with our regular summer program. Don’t be scared to get strong, kids. None of these kids have ever not gotten a medal at State, by the way.
