¡Mucha Lucha! aired 20 years ago today! So here is an interactive model pack I put together for our storyboard department to reference what was available in our stock library. It's pretty clunky because I didn't know what I was doing (none of us did)

Frankie was probably the heaviest rig on Foster's due to all of her pencil textured lines, so she had a full obnoxiously colored temp model that was easier to animate with. All of her temp art was swapped to the final after the scene was completed.

Goo's model from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. We had to animate her with temp hair and swap in the textured symbol after the scene was finished because our computers couldn't handle the millions of points in each strand. It would just CHUG.

Mucha Lucha opening sequence by Nebulous Films in 2001.
@MattyDanner
did all the pencils and I did all the Flash for this scene. I recently read that the Mucha Lucha opening still goes hard. It's true.

Eduardo's Flash rig from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. The crew at Boulder Media rigged his hairs for secondary animation, I'd never seen anything like it at the time.

Found this in an envelope of my grandpa’s belongings. He always wanted to be an animator for Disney but grandma made him work for her dad in accounting instead, dang.
This is how we did the tail animation by using Adobe Illustrator brushes. You can do something similar with Animate with the art brush but they tend to always need adjusting and they make the files lag a lot. This method is still better.
My grampa dumpster-dived at the Disney studio back in the day and came up with boxes and boxes of original SW cels. My grandma made him throw them all out because they cluttered the house 🤮🤮🤮
10 years ago, for my first week on TTG! I worked on this promo. We had 3 days to make it without rigs or final designs. I animated Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg. Aaron animated Raven, Starfire and Silkie. Brianne did the layouts.

My favorite episode from S8, because I got to catalogue all the mistakes we've made throughout the series for the writers and because I'm the star of it. I can't wait for it to air in the US so people recognize me in the streets.
The need for an animation guild strike is so strong that even the Teen Titans Go writers are crying for help now 😭😭😭 (This is from a new episode that got released in the middle east early)
Wilt's Flash rig from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. IIRC, Justin Murphy created the bendy fingers in his hand comp and it was a game changer.

I've been going through the TTG! S3 Island Adventure opening titles from 2016 lately, pulling water fx for reuse. Here's one of the scenes I animated.

A bunch of mouth charts I've made over the years on TTG!, there's probably a bunch more that I should add to this... I've really just been faking it making the same one over and over this whole time, suckers 😜

The first scene I animated for TTG! s1 "Legendary Sandwich." I was really trying not to get fired, you can tell by all the effort I put into the blaster transformation, nowadays we just pop it on and call it approved. Smoke fx by

I don't recall Ivan's design being an issue with the animators because he was indeed set up with a bunch of overlapping movieclips. The biggest challenge was trying to position the pupils in a way they'd all mostly be visible. Here is the coldtag I got to animate. Thanks!

@ericjpringle
Hey Eric, I was watching Fosters when I got to the Ivan episode. It's a great character design, but how did the animators react when a character with so many repeating points landed on their desk? Is it just a bunch of overlapping movieclips?
@ericjpringle
Eduardo was always my fav 💜 but honestly anything u got would be cool to see!
Idk if u have this but…it’s hottttt in To-PE-kaaaa 🔥 would be a blast from the past
Warner Archive is re-releasing The Powerpuff Girls: The Complete Series on DVD-R May 21, 2024.
Hopefully it's the exact same set as what was released in 2009, with the whole slew of extras that came with it.
Lipsync test for mouth charts I made for the new FOP. These didn't end up being used in the final designs, it's okay I had fun. Watch it now on Nickelodeon!
Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation, is against using AI.
"I just think it’s important we protect the artists and the art form as long as we can. [With storyboarding], we should give jobs to people who really do that so they can get their entry-level experience."
This is how we animated the door in the Teen Titans Go! Haunted Tank episode. We used the 3d Extrude & Bevel effect in Adobe Illustrator and imported it into Animate. Easy.

Dr. Light's lipsync I animated for our latest episode "Arthur." Instead of designing a new chart, I just animated the mouth poses to the audio. Fun!

On Foster’s if an animator finished their shots before the deadline we let them go home paid and not return until the next episode was ready. Animators were finishing all their shots within the first 3 days of production.
"Do you have any tutorial videos on how you set up a scene with the key poses and work through the breakdowns?"
Yes, here is a scene from Foster's I animated broken down start to finish before going to post🧵

Does Animate still have that bug that completely removes artwork from a symbol after a fla is saved and closed? Because it's really unfortunate when Jinx's body disappears on TV when it was there the millions of times we watched it before. This is from s5 "Girls Night In pt.1" 😭
Just realized we can no longer use this method anymore because
@adobe
removed the option to export a swf from Illustrator. Why would they do that? Put it back.

Now that all of you have watched the TTG! Thanksgiving special, I bet you're all wondering "how'd they make that paint can spin like it was 3d???" Here's how... we used the 3d extrude & bevel in Illustrator, and exported the mapped image as a swf and imported it into flash. 🤯
I'm always looking for a way to over complicate something. In the tk1 the cycle's transition to the front pose was too jarring for me, so 6 tries later, I broke it into several layers and shape tweened the motion. Now the transition is hardly noticeable.
#teentitansgo
You probably didn't even notice, but I had to use Adobe Illustrator to fake 3d animate the wizard van in yesterday's TTG! episode "Jump City Rock." It was a last minute revision to make the van swerve. Having no access to 3d software, I had to get creative. Never done it before.
I repositioned Blackfire's face in this shot for tomorrow's Starfire special. Her pose was later completely changed from this one so none of this matters. Find out what her new pose looks like tomorrow, only on CN!

If anyone is interested, my how-to Flash "book" from the classes I taught in 2006 can be downloaded here. It's pretty outdated but might be a bit useful for the basics. People probably paid a lot of money for this back then. I am so sorry.
I revised this car animation for today’s new Teen Titans Go episode “Brain of the Family” using the 3d extrude/bevel feature in Adobe Illustrator to create all the poses.
