Property taxes are effective at reallocating value-able resources from the elderly to young families. This is a perfect example of a GOOD tax structure/purpose. The people feeling the friction it generates (the elderly) want you to remove that friction so they can benefit

@Noahpinion Been this like this since the early 2000's, though not as bad. The market tried to correct, but the govt chose to help owners and speculators keep their money rather than let homes become affordable for the young.
