This is one of the most brilliant interviews I have heard an Israeli official give over the last few weeks, particularly in the face of an incredibly hostile interviewer.
@EylonALevy
should be the next leader of this country 🤴🏽
Just picked up my kids from school and my 4.5 year old just asked “did anyone get released today mummy?” And that’s just a normal question in December 2023.
So this is where all the fuel that came into Gaza went - to fire rockets on Tel Aviv and the entire Gush Dan area.
Hamas could not care less about the Palestinian people.
Me and my 6-year-old son and our new nightly ritual of picking up on the GF action with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and watching from there ❤️💙

@melbournefc

@AdamBandt
- why did you delete your initial post yesterday with the red map??
What’s cute about your replacement post is you calling this a “movement for peace”.
There is nothing peaceful about the way Hamas wants to make Palestine free from the river to the sea.
Resign.
This moved me. I feel that Israel’s detractors in Australia tried to frame the Jewish community as unsupportive of our First Nations people. This could not be further from the truth and as
@NovaPeris
points out, the strong connection between our communities goes back a long way.
I strongly stand against antisemitism. This sort of behaviour is not on and should never be tolerated on campus - or anywhere. In the same way, I refuse to conflate anti-semitism with supporting Palestinian struggle for self-determination and freedom. 6/7
Well that was fun! What a pleasure and privilege to interview someone advocating for the Jews and for Israel who isn’t a middle-aged white man! You can’t be what you can’t see ❤️ Thank you
@Eve_Barlow
- could have chatted for hours more!
Zoe, please explain what you mean by “many”. I’ve been getting messages all day from Jews in your electorate - including Jews that voted for you, who defended you to the community - appalled by this position. We are grieving. We are also traumatised. You don’t speak for us.
This is a position that I support. And I know that many in the large Jewish community that I represent would support it too. Everyone is frightened. Everyone is grieving. That pain and fear crosses boundaries beyond Hamas. That must be acknowledged.
This is an image we have been waiting years to see. Malka Leifer boarding a plane on her way back to face justice in Australia.

<—- the last time we will use this hashtag????
I think it’s cute that everyone is all like “Netanyahu’s government has abandoned the idea of a two-state solution” as if those chanting “from the river to the sea” have ever advocated for a two-state solution.

I’ve been back in Melbourne for just over a month and feel the antisemitism everywhere. As I head back to Israel this week, my answer to every question is - I feel safer in Israel than I do here.

When you are so anti-Israel that you don’t realise you are actually posting a video of a Jewish soccer team playing in Australia in 1939 😂😂
Last year
@Israellycool
added some captions that will help people like Tim not make an idiot of themselves -
The Australian Jewish Association (AJA) wants to stop the Australia-Palestine soccer match in the Asia Cup because 'Palestine does not exist'. Yet Australian and Palestine played soccer in 1939, before the
#zionist
colony in
#Palestine
was created.
Pro-Palestinians vandalised an Israeli-owned business in Melbourne with anti-Israel posters, but the owner himself, not a Zionist, protested at a pro-Palestinian rally last week. Just goes to show when Jews/Israelis are attacked, no one cares about their politics.Sound familiar?
In case you’re wondering what’s going in the north of Israel and what we are dealing with in terms of Hezbollah.
In case I need to remind you, just like Hamas, Hezbollah is a proscribed terrorist organisation in Australia.
I would love to know which member of the
@UniMelb
@UMSUunimelb
was the one who said “antisemitic incidents are unfortunate but…” towards the end of their “debate today”. “Unfortunate”? I cannot imagine any other student minority being treated with the same level of contempt.
This a brilliant article, again from
@GemmaTognini
It’s been depressing to see how few feminists have said a single word about the atrocities of 7 October.
Even more disheartening, the comments on this and similar tweets, that do mental gymnastics to justify sexual violence.
Modern feminists say rape is violence, except for the rape of Israeli women, Jewish women. They call those rapes, acts of resistance.

You have now veered into unhinged territory.
Hostages and political prisoners? Are you serious?
Hey Hamas - I’ve got a fair swap, you give us the 3 year old girl whose parents you murdered before taking her hostage, and we’ll give you a terrorist with blood on his hands back.
Ceasefire now.
The hostages and political prisoners must be released.
The occupation must end.
This is the only way we achieve a lasting and just peace.
I am blown away by
@jeremyleibler
’s composure while answering this question about whether we can negotiate with Hamas. A brilliant response which needs to be said a little louder for the people in the back.
@LahavHarkov
Like the people who routinely share the video of the Palestinian soccer team playing in Australia in the 1930s to prove a point without realising their uniforms had a magen David on it and players names included Avraham Reznick, Jerry Beit-Halevi, and Binyamin Mizrahi …
@EmRusciano
Also, if she spoke to a doctor and she has legit medical reasons, she would have an exemption, which she clearly doesn’t. Hiding behind mental health is a kick in the face to anyone struggling with their mental health, and a dangerous message to be spreading on her “platform”.
Last night. In Caulfield. Jews in our community came out of their houses to find a bunch of anti-Israel thugs protesting against them. They responded by singing songs of peace and finished with our anthem, Hatikvah. They did invite the pro-Palestinians to sing their anthem too 🤷🏻♀️
This is also a great interview but I have to wonder about the question asked of
@EylonALevy
here.
Are Palestinian spokespeople ever asked to sympathise with Israeli parents? And do they ever take the interviewer up on the opportunity to do so?
I was interviewed on
@theprojecttv
two days after Hamas unleashed hell on Israelis. I felt zero sympathy from the panelists. And now listening to Jan Fran getting riled up in her Instagram stories about Australia assisting Israel with “defence” (her emphasis), it’s all clear why.
This article doesn’t accurately cover the vitriol that was directed towards our community the night that they protested outside a synagogue; they paint it as a clash between two sides. The owner knew that it wasn’t a hate crime from the beginning but sowed the seeds of hate.
The number of times I have seen this lie propogated on social media is countless and the damage to the Australian Jewish community was huge.
Not expecting an apology but I am putting this here for all to see.
Hey
@smh
- how about telling the story properly for a change? Over 70 rockets were fired at Israeli civilians. Hamas targets civilians, the IDF targets terror. There is no moral equivalence.

Impossible to believe that this was 20 years ago. My heart goes out to

Highly inaccurate,

This version of Tel Aviv is so much my version of Tel Aviv from my adventures here in the early 2000s. This city and every other city under attack right now are so much more than a headline or a catchphrase.

I'm glad
@UniMelb
issued this statement but I am still really concerned about the academic solidarity statement supporting the
@UMSUunimelb
motion, which was signed by a number of Melbourne Uni academics. How is a Jewish student supposed to feel in their lectures or tutorials?
I heard Iris speak in Melbourne and then watched her speak on lsraeli tv last week. A classy and brave woman who went to the end of the earth to raise awareness of her son’s plight. I’m so devastated for her and the other two families.
All of Israel weeps 💔💔💔
Iris, Yotam’s mom, visited Australia two weeks ago & made a heartbreaking plea- help us, help me bring Yotam home.
Today we received the worst news of all, Yotam was killed in a misfire in the Gaza Strip, as the IDF was trying to rescue hostages.
May his memory be a blessing💔
Landed back in Israel today. I usually love this walk down the ramp - the feeling that you are home. But these photos of the 135 Israelis and foreign nationals still in terrorist Hamas captivity serve as a reminder that none of us are really home until they all come home 💔💔
Actually it’s very clear. You’ve seen the videos that it was a PIJ rocket. You’ve heard Hamas saying so over their radio systems. You’ve heard the military experts say it. You just don’t want to report the truth because it doesn’t fit your narrative. Shame on you.
In Gaza, an explosion at a hospital has killed hundreds of Palestinians. It's not clear who was responsible for the blast, but the incident has made the circumstances of the US President’s trip to Israel even more complicated.

This is so disturbing to read but am grateful that we have a publication such as the
@australian
to ensure these stories see the light of day in the mainstream Australian media.
To know what they’re “going to do next” you just have to listen to them. What they are going to do is bring an end to Hamas, and attempt to bring home the 224 hostages that you refuse to acknowledge.
Other groups who tell you what they are going to do next: Hamas. Listen to them
Gaza has been plunged into darkness.
Palestinians, journalists, civil society and aid groups have lost contact with families & staff after Israel’s military cut off communications.
They don’t want the rest of the world to know what they’re going to do next.
Here
@AdamBandt

Resign.
Both Palestinian and Israeli children should be able to enjoy peace and freedom equally.
To secure a just and lasting peace for all - we must end the invasion and end the occupation.
We cannot look away or lose hope.
We must keep pushing.
I am assuming this is some sort of a dig at Israel but the billionaire leaders of Hamas living in 5 star hotel rooms in Qatar also don't seem to be keen on a two-state solution. And peace-building relies on a partnership right? So who exactly is Israel's partner here?
The refusal to accept the two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians, and the denial of the right to statehood for the Palestinian people, are unacceptable.
The right of the Palestinian people to build their own state must be recognized by all.

You again?
Adam Bandt - when you say “end the occupation”, do you still mean 1967 borders? Because the thugs that came into Caulfield last night, and the people you call to march weekly against us, seem to have a different definition that fits in line with your
red map 🤷🏻♀️
As we work for an end to the conflict we must keep our protests peaceful.
There is no room for anti-semitism, Islamophobia or racism in our movement.
The Greens will continue to call for a ceasefire, the freeing of hostages and political prisoners and an end to the occupation.
If by “lost” you mean brutally kidnapped from her bed by genocidal terrorists and held in captivity for 50 days without any proof of life or humanitarian visits by Red Cross. And by “found” you mean released in a hostage deal in exchange for terrorists with blood on their hands.
This is a day of enormous joy and relief for Emily Hand and her family. An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and we breathe a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered.
I just saw a well known Aussie feminist say on Instagram that she has evidence that Israel bombed the hospital in Gaza. That’s
after every top intelligence agency concluded it was PIJ and even Hamas admitted it. But she read some bozo theory on the internet so it must be right.
The family of Doron Steinbrecher, who is being held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, says when her parents told the

This is so heartbreaking. Aside from the stories mentioned in this article - which were already too much bear - there is also a three year old girl in terrorist Hamas captivity whose parents were killed in the massacre of 7 October. Too much for the heart to take💔💔💔
Why did no Israeli Arabs represent Israel at the Tokyo Olympics? Given the discrimination within Israel, "no Arab community has the infrastructure for any sport that could provide local athletes the basis they need to progress to an international level."
Doron had a bullet removed from her back on a sofa in an apartment with no anaesthetic in Gaza but then was kept in a hospital for the remainder of her time in terrorist captivity.

Any woman in Australia who calls herself a feminist should no longer do so if she has not spoken out about this. Their silence is deafening, their justifications have been noted. They have officially excluded themselves from the conversation about women.
To the feminists: Hamas ripped open a pregnant Israeli woman’s stomach, killed the fetus and then killed the mother. Hamas raped women and girls, mutilated their bodies, and then shot them. Hamas is holding 200 civilians captive – mostly girls and women – and doing God knows what
