Labor’s plan to fix FOI is to make it worse and harder to get information including by imposing costs and banning anonymous applications - what are they hiding?

The problem with FOI isn’t that too much information is being released! . The system is broken and characterized by obscene delays and unfair, unjustified refusals. Labor is seeking to make it worse. The mind boggles.

All the reports into FOI have shown a system marked by refusal with departments hiding information that should be made public - Labor imposing further barriers will make them the most secretive government on record. A shameful moment.

The age assurance trial findings accidentally prove the social media age ban is unworkable. Bias against girls and people of colour, plus massive privacy risk = a policy that will harm the very kids it claims to protect. Time to abandon this flawed approach.

The govt’s report on age assurance tech admits "implementation depends on the willingness of a small number of dominant tech companies" meaning we'd be handing even more power to Big Tech to decide who gets online access. Labor surely understands this is bad!.
