Job flexibility has made it possible for more ppl to work. Here are the stories of ppl who told me how async work has made it possible for them to work & parent, take care of their mental or physical health, or accommodate being neurodivergent. @TwistWork

Thank you @carlheastie and @joinjoyner for listening to freelancers and moving Freelance Isn’t Free through the NY Assembly. This bill will help end late payment, ensure thousands of freelancers get basic workplace protections, & set a new precedent that other states can follow.

New York freelancers, you are *this* close to actual legal protections for getting paid on-time & in-full & setting a model for the rest of the US. Tweet, email, & call Speaker @CarlHeastie & Labor Cmtee Chair @JoinJoyner & tell them to pass #FreelanceIsntFree now @FSP_NWU

New York City has recovered over $2.1 million in late and stolen payment, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. @joinjoyner and @carlheastie need to pass Freelance Isn’t Free and empower the Department of Labor to help thousands of freelancers recover the pay they’re owed.

Many people fantasize about leaving their jobs to become travel bloggers, life coaches, or surf instructors in Bali. Should you take the plunge? @emeyer5 argues that we need honest and realistic advice from those who have actually done it. @doist

.@damemagazine is one of a shrinking number of websites that publishes writing from new voices, including my own writing about work and mental health. Right now especially, we need different voices than the usual. Help support Dame's independent journalism by becoming a member.

Living in the Midwest changes a person. I don’t think you’re supposed to have this much of an adversarial relationship with the weather. I wake up cursing the wind and sky like a character from an old English novel.

The U.S. remains one of 11 countries with no federal paid sick leave. After a record number of people were home sick with Covid in January, Democrats are pushing for a temporary program providing time off for those with the virus. https://t.co/7KfLuqSTy1

Helpful article by @bstulberg re-framing wellness from quick fixes, products, self-tracking and performative "solutions" that are marketed to us, and a truer wellness that is about getting grounded with ourselves and our communities

A bit rich to say not being able to phone a restaurant is "de-humanizing," w/o acknowledging how de-humanizing it can be working in restaurants. Imagine managing online orders, Resy, & being on phone w/someone who's arguing about your vax policy. And I know #NotAllBoomers.

To be clear, I love @HarlanCoben @netflix shows. I'll keep watching them as long as they keep making them.
