Teachers - as you go back this week, just remember it’s barely four weeks until your next break! And maybe you’ll even get a few snow days in between! ❤️

This is the best way to improve public education. Gets the feds out. Each state now will be accountable to education and can no longer blame a President. It will also keep us from ever having NCLB or RttT ever again.
Most K-12 funding? ✅ State & local Who hires teachers? ✅ Local districts Who sets curriculum? ✅ School boards Department of Education? ❌ Not necessary!

Parents - try this. Tell your child now that your home will be device free for the Winter Break. (Generally 2 weeks in most areas). They can make calls to make plans, but nothing else. And then do it.
Two more studies show that when young people quit or reduce social media for as little as one week, their anxiety/depression drops. One (with no control group) was written up in the NYT: https://t.co/Db550YmolN The other, much more rigorous, was conducted by Meta and then

This is what 21st century education should look like. School boards arguing over secondary curriculums and gender identity and yet this is where your efforts and money should be spent.
@educator4ever36 We at @AllendaleMS, are one of the few schools in the country to be a MEERA Center (Manufacturing and Engineering Education Reimagined for All).

Parents - I’d never, ever allow my child on a public school overnight field trip unless I was chaperoning and my child was in my hotel room with me. This is not an isolated incident. You can tell yourself it is if that makes you feel better. But it’s not.
🚨 JUST IN: Parents are SUING a Colorado school after their 11-year-old daughter was FORCED to share a bed with a biological male, without even telling the parents That is absolutely DISGUSTING and INFURIATING. Transgenderism has gone way too far. "Putting that person into a

This (and similar programs) should be an option for every student starting in 9th grade in every public school. Not every student needs four years of math, science, social studies, and English.
A high school in Jackson County, Georgia is the first school in the world to use this technology where all of the students on the simulators are working together on the same job site. This is incredible. We need this all across the country.

I’d argue teaching is just as bad.
U.S. healthcare is the only industry where the people doing the work have the least control, the people receiving the service have the least information, and the people setting the prices never actually touch a patient (and doesn’t price based on cost but on subsidy acquisition).

Kudos to districts that give students and teachers the entire week of Thanksgiving off!

I’d argue a teacher is responsible for teaching the standards aligned to the course. Taking on teaching the “real world” is part of the reason teachers are exhausted. So what if a student gets fired in the future. No teacher owns that. As long as you are notifying the parents and
@educator4ever36 @teachthemx3 Removing a chair is harsh. But you know what else is harsh? Being fired for sleeping on the job and/or being illiterate and uneducated in the world. That’s what we are supposed to be preparing them for. You can’t learn when you’re asleep. Further, no consequences =

Parents - I cannot stress this enough. If your child isn’t printing legibly by third grade, time to start teaching them yourselves. I’d actually intervene earlier but I get that fine motor skills may take a bit longer to develop in some children.
After my post on the importance of handwriting, many people reached out to ask me what resource I’d recommend to support explicit, systematic handwriting instruction. Personally, I’ve chosen to use “Printing Like a Pro” for three reasons: 1. It was developed by a team of expert

If you think this scenario is an isolated incident, you don’t work in a public school. I’d not quit but I’d refuse to work with the child without the parent and/or counselor there. I’d just say I’m uncomfortable in a tutoring setting with the student because no way am I the only
A teacher at my school came into my room after dismissal yesterday and showed me an email she received (summarized with her permission, student’s name has been changed): Counselor: Johnny’s parents are concerned because he’s only failing your class. Any idea why? Teacher:

If this school does not suspend the entire football team and forfeit the entire season, then it is a dereliction of duty of every adult in that school. The football coaches all need to be replaced as well. There is a dangerous culture in this team and nothing less will change it.
NEW: Teen charged after assaulting and whipping a special needs student in a high school locker room in Newport, RI. Football players were seen standing by doing absolutely nothing to help as the boy was assaulted. “Even more disturbing, the video we have seen shows other

Any parent with a child with special needs knows this: special education on American public schools has sunk to its lowest levels ever. We must demand reform for our students with disabilities. Need to learn more? Consider following @1in5advocacy
@usedgov For 50 years, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, known as IDEA, has helped schools, and harmed communities and families by NOT working together to ensure that infant, toddlers, and children with disabilities receive the special education and services they need to
