NEW: A former Palantir employee is sounding the alarm. Peter Thiel’s company rose to prominence working with military, law enforcement & ICE. They capitalize on fear and unrest to make money. Now they want you to pay them to build the “government’s central operating system.”

A country that is pushing the limit the most here is Norway. Thanks to massive hydropower, their electricity mix is 99% renewables. This abundance of electricity means they use it for everything they can, and they boast an incredibly high (outlying) electrification rate of 47%.

Why is China betting on solar AND wind? 🇨🇳☀️🍃 One reason: their output is complementary across the year. Solar output is higher in the summer, wind output is higher in the winter. Across seasons this gives a relatively flat profile over the year 🧵

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.

NEW | Solar and wind OUTPACED global electricity demand growth in the first half of 2025, leading to a slight fall in fossil fuels compared to this time last year ☀️🌪️ Record solar and steady wind growth is reshaping global power as renewables OVERTAKE coal for the first time.

Your regular reminder that there is actually a negative (albeit not quite significant) correlation between utility scale renewable additions and increases in electricity price across states over the past 24 years:

California is #1 in solar and #1 in price increases. Nevada is #2 in solar and #50 in price increases. Maybe... just maybe... it's NOT the solar that makes California expensive.
