To all those who follow me because of @xx_xyathletics and who are now telling me to stop talking about covid... Let me just explain a few things -- and why that isn't going to happen. The only reason I'm even active on @X is because of covid. The only reason I have any

Sale Sharks should change their name to Manchester Rugby. Much more globally relevant in Sport and Culture when you say, Manchester.

https://t.co/vQwhLBYysY Wonderful, thoughtful, inspiring piece from @NickBryantNY He’s right. This appalling tragedy can either unite us or divide us. We must all work to ensure it unites us. It is our collective responsibility. #Bondi #auspol

I’ve covered the aftermath of mass shootings and terrorist massacres, but never before in a setting cherished by so many as a happy place: Bondi.

In the face of terror, the courage of a Holocaust survivor and a Syrian immigrant revealed the best of humanity and the worst of our leadership, which ignored the rising threat in plain sight.

Based on data from the Australian Institute of Criminology which indicates ~10% of gun homicides are committed with a registered firearm The two Bondi shooters killed more with registered firearms than every single Australian in the last 5.5 years. We have an extremism problem

The many articles by Malcolm Gladwell (like Sacks, a fine essayist) which mixed good reporting with dubious statistical reasoning and misleading claims (e.g., that only practice, not talent, is necessary for achievement, or that IQ above 120 doesn't matter)

The themes of this collection are a good way to characterize the author himself: a minor genius who unwittingly demonstrates the hazards of statistical reasoning.

There is no evidence of the supermarkets price gouging. Their annual profit is only 3-4%. But Labor needed a scapegoat for inflation caused by rampant govt spending. Jim here is patting himself on the back for fixing a problem that didn’t exist. Totally performative. #auspol

Our ban on supermarket price gouging is now law. Labor's amendments to the Food and Grocery Code are now in place, setting clear rules for very large retailers. The ACCC will police the new regime, with penalties of up to $10 million for Coles or Woolworths if they breach it.

Is the RBA ‘behind the curve’, as the saying goes? Well, the 10 year bond yield is one bad day from the highest interest rate in 15 years. Answer is literally yes. They are behind the yield curve. If nothing else it brings into question the wisdom of the rate cuts this year. And

'He has a point, but he's too blunt.' From the start, a key tactic of the gender identitarians has been linguistic prescription, and it's proved shockingly successful. Trans activists' shibboleths and euphemisms have been allowed to penetrate the upper echelons of our culture

Interesting interview with @Glinner on @GBNEWS a few minutes ago about the trans debate. It's interesting how the tide is turning in his favour. I've seen old friends who shunned him admit he has a point but that he was too blunt. Even that would was unthinkable a few years ago

@AndrewVossy It was realistically never a shot, the thing that surprised me was how much the league press took it all as gospel despite almost all the noise coming from league agents.
