Overall, we demonstrated the ability of neoadjuvant therapy to markedly modulate the immune microenvironment in oesophageal cancer, which may guide how we combine chemo- and immuno-therapy in the future. @QUBelfast @CPH_QUB @BelfastTrust @CR_UK

1. Identified three molecular subgroups in oesophageal adenocarcinoma classified by innate immune signalling (immune-high, immune-low and immune-mixed) using the Almac Diagnostics ClaraT assay. @AlmacGroup

We are also supporting the @CR_UK and @NIHRresearch funded BEST4 trial to look at capsule sponge testing as a way to screen for Barrett's oesophagus. By catching cancer early, or even before it starts, we hope to see more patients surviving a diagnosis of oesophageal cancer.

Almost half of all patients with Barrett's oesophagus do not have any symptoms, such as heartburn, and so are not aware they have the disease. We are developing new methods to identify Barrett's oesophagus patients who do not have any symptoms. @CPH_QUB @nicancertrials

The Health Minister met with @CR_UK at the @QubPGJCCR to hear about the contribution of research to increasing understanding of cancer and achieving better outcomes. During his visit, Minister Nesbitt met with researchers who demonstrated their work.
