After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.

What a time to research comedy. @jimmykimmel’s willingness to get personal on issues like #healthcare & #guncontrol are a big part of his impact. My work shows that even those who don’t like or comedy feel a connection when Kimmel breaks the 4th wall.

The countries where comedians can't mock the leader on late night TV are not really ones you want to live in.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.
