Plate armor could stop bullets and no it did not cause the person wearing the plate armor to instantly have a shattered rib cage bc of the shockwave. There was an instance of someone’s helmet getting shot point blank at it did fuck all.

There are some fantasy races that are simply evil by design. Trying to change that now is impossible bc this was established centuries ago. 40K understands this simple concept. Can u imagine a friendly Drukhari or Tyranid? I can barely imagine a half-decent ork.
See this is why games like Runequest or Call of Cthulhu are better, because no alignment. Instead just explain "Drow like to feed folks to spiders" or "Cthulhu cultists plan to wipe out humanity" and let players reach their own conclusions.
